BUD stands for Before use Date. This date is not always the same as the vaccine's manufacturer issued expiration date. BUD is dependent upon when vaccine vial(s) was placed into refrigerator and other storage and handling factors that can effect this date.

•Empower with vaccine information

•Teamwork

•Building strong team dynamics/culture (respect, adaptability, empathy, being team-players, critical thinking/problem solving, willingness to learn)

•Operating within scope of public health nurse practice

•Keeping track of documentation/staying organized in a mobile setting

•Considering HIPPA in a potentially more public setting

Ask the parents to complete the eligibility form and write the patient's name and any other patient information legibly. Then continue asking/reviewing the questions for the patient on the review form.

You enter the vaccine room and find your ice packs are not in the fridge and there is an alarm on the freezer closest to the door in the vaccine room. What do you do? 

Grab some ice packs from the freezer, start prepping for your POD by placing them on the ground flat and not stacked on top of each other. Tell Ashley about alarm so she can alert Chelsea or Angelina. There is no vaccine in this freezer so as long as the ice packs still seem frozen, you can continue to prep for your POD and assess their condition.
