How do you handle quiet students and families on a Info Session and Tour?
Family: Thanks for visiting us, what city are you coming from today? Student: That's great do you have a spefic program of interest? Family: That is great....
Student: When is your expected graduation year?
Family: Ok great, it's never to early to get started...we have some resources to help you.
How do you manage a disruptive/ disrespectful middle school group?
If you can hear my voice clap once..... or wait quietly until everyone is finally listening to you
What would you do if you have a discruptive student during a presentation?
Lock eyes with the lead specialists, body language speaks. If that is not effective, ask the group to excuse you for a moment while you check on something. Privately talk to the Specialist.
What do you say if a parent asks why the campus looks empty?
Could be:
a. End of Term
b. Finals week
c. Summer Term (which is normally slower)
d. Customizable schedule
What do you do when a group arrives to the wrong campus?
Redirect them to the correct campus, speak to AD/ Coordinator of that campus to work out a plan
What do you do if there was a mix up in the arrival time?
Shorten presentation and show the most important slides, always end with next steps or call to action.
What would you do if a family misses the entire session due to them being from a different time zone (ex: fly in from Kansas)?
- Give them a quick tour if time permits
- If time doesn't permit hand them the materials, map and they can do a self guided tour
How would you manage an overly excited group of middle school kids?
Entice them with trivia and prizes to capture their attention
How do you decline a request of a teacher wanting you to do a presentation for 7 periods?
If you have an upcoming event at that school invite her students to come. If there is no upcoming events at the school you can accommodate 1 - 2 periods for presentation. You can also ask if you could present in an auditorium with all students at one time.
What if a parent asks about the safety of the College in front of the entire group, what would you say?
Unfortunately, we cannot comment on legal matters.
What would you do if the group arrives an hour late?
Provide a shortened tour and/or ask what specific programs students are interested in/visit those spaces only and talk about the campus/Valencia facts on the way.
How would you engage a group of quiet Seniors during a presentation?
Trivia and/or ask what they're going to study, career and/or college of choice and start informing them of what we have in relation to their interest and how they can get it for free....FAFSA, Bridges, Honors etc.

How would you handle an upset parent?
Depending on the issue it is best to help them navigate to the correct department. Don't engage more than just finding out the issue (ex: transcripts, residency, faculty).
