What do I do at White Horse Village?

Vanguard students visited White Horse Village this fall to learn what jobs might match their interests. They are now visiting the campus each week, joined by job coaches from the school who help them adapt to their various tasks.

“Our students receive daily lessons to develop skills directly related to the tasks being presented to them as well as the soft skills of employment, such as initiating a task and task endurance,” said Donna Mazzella, vocational and transition program coordinator at the school.

Because of the many job options at a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) like White Horse Village, the students are able to choose from a variety of categories, including dining, housekeeping, facilities, and administrative offices.

“We’re excited to welcome these Vanguard students to our community and help them grow their gifts,” said Michael Shaw, White Horse Village president & CEO. “And we’re grateful for the ways they’re sharing those gifts with us.”

What is sales tax?

Sales tax, which is a consumption tax levied on the sale of goods and services, is an important source of revenue for governments at the state and local levels.

While, in many instances, businesses are required to charge and collect sales tax from consumers, knowing when and how to charge sales tax can get complex. This is especially true in today’s environment of ever-evolving sales tax regulations.

Understanding the basic rules of sales and having the right tools and solutions in place can help businesses better navigate the complexities.

What is an octave in music?

An octave is the interval between one musical pitch and another with double or half its frequency. For example, if one note has a frequency of 440 Hz, the note one octave above is at 880 Hz, and the note one octave below is at 220 Hz. The ratio of frequencies of two notes an octave apart is therefore 2:1. Further octaves of a note occur at  times the frequency of that note (where n is an integer), such as 2, 4, 8, 16, etc. and the reciprocal of that series. For example, 55 Hz and 440 Hz are one and two octaves away from 110 Hz because they are +1⁄2 (or ) and 4 (or ) times the frequency, respectively.

In mathematics, a percentage (from Latin per centum 'by a hundred') is a number or ratio expressed as a fraction of 100. It is often denoted using the percent sign (%),[1] although the abbreviations pct., pct, and sometimes pc are also used.[2] A percentage is a dimensionless number (pure number), primarily used for expressing proportions, but percent is nonetheless a unit of measurement in its orthography and usage.[3]
