The formula for volume of a rectangular prism?

V = Bh or V = l x w x h

100

The formula for finding the volume of a triangular prism?

V = Bh or

V = (1/2bh)* height of prism

100

What is the definition of volume?

The amount of space that an object takes up on the INSIDE of a 3D figure

100

What is the name of this figure?

Triangular Prism

100

When you calculate surface area, which label is needed?

units squared!

200

Find the volume of the rectangular prism.

V = 144 in3

200

Find the volume of a triangular prism if the height of the prism is 6 inches and the triangular base has a slant height of 4 inches and a base of 3 inches.

What is 36 cubic inches?

200

Why is volume measured in cubic feet?

Volume measures 3 dimensions (length/width/height)

200

Determine the volume of a rectangular prism if the area of its base is 50 square cm and its height is 8cm.

400 cubic cm

A square pyramid has a 4' by 4' base. The slant height of a triangular face = 6'. What is the total surface area?

64 Square feet.

300

Find the volume.

V = 120 in3

A triangular prism has a height of 16 yards and a base with AREA of 95 square yards. What is its volume?

1520 cubic yards

300

What does the "B" in V = Bh stand for?

the area of the entire base

300

Find the volume of this prism if each cube = one unit

V = 24 cubic units

A rectangular cardboard box is needed to ship a refrigerator. The box measures 8' by 4' by 6'. Amazon delivery employees must cover the box in plastic wrap. How many square feet of plastic wrap will be required to completely cover the box?

208 square feet.

400

Find the volume.

V= 148.5 ft3

400

The slant height of a triangular base is 4cm and the base is 2cm.  The length of the entire prism is 5cm.

20cm3

When calculating triangle area, you will sometimes see a dotted line extending from the right angle indicator. What is the dotted line called and why is this important?

It's called "slant height," and you need that number to calculate the area of the triangle.

400

Find the volume of a triangular prism if the area of its base is 12.5 square cm and its height is 4cm.

V = 50 cm3

400

What is this figure, and what is its surface area?

Rectangular Pyramid with surface area of 160.8 square ft.

A pool measures 15 ft by 10 ft and has a cubic volume of 1050 ft3. What is the pool's depth?

7 feet

Aylesha and Camie are going camping. They are looking for a rectangular tent that measures at least 400 cubic feet so they can stash a bunch of gear. They find a tent that measures 12 feet long by 6 feet wide by 6 feet high. How big is this tent, and will this tent fit their needs?

 It has 432 cubic feet capacity, so yes, it fits their needs.

Explain why there are TWO formulas for triangular prisms, and what to "watch out for" when doing volume of triangular prisms.

V = Bh  is used when someone has already calculated the entire prism base for you. Then, you take that number times the height.

V = 1/2 (bh)H is used when YOU have to calculate the triangular base first and THEN take that times the height of the prism. You can also take bhH and divide by 2.

You have to know whether or not the base has been done for you in order to get the answer right!

Find the volume of this prism if each cube has a   length of 2 inches

V= 48 cubic inches
