Midodrine HCl 10 mg tablet- take one tablet by mouth three times daily. This medication RAISES blood pressure.
How often is bacitracin-polymyxin ointment applied to wounds such as cuts, abrasions, and scratches?
Thoroughly cleanse and dry wound prior to applying a thin layer of ointment twice daily as needed to minor cuts, abrasions, scratches until wound is healed and no longer scabbing. Cover wound with a new bandage (as tolerated). If no improvement, or if wound worsens (watch for signs of infection), after 7 days contact physician.

Ketoconzaole 1% cream is used to treat seborrheic dermatitis.
When do IEI staff change VP's catheter drainage bag?
10 days after his urology appointment. Document in Therap Appointment Records.
Which inhaler would you administer for an acute asthma attack?
Albuterol HFA Inhaler. Using spacer, inhale 2 puffs by mouth every 4 hours as needed for cough, wheezing, shortness of breath. Rinse mouth with water and spit after use.
How many meals should VP have per day?
5-6 small meals per day. VP needs to avoid overfilling his stomach due to GERD and his hernias.
Which PRN medication can you offer VP for muscle spasms?
Tizanidine HCl 2 mg tablet can be administered by mouth up to three times daily, six hours between doses.
What are signs/symptoms of a yeast rash?
Redness in skin folds, sour odor, white sloughing skin and discharge.
What are symptoms of a possible UTI?
Confusion, fever, chills, bladder spasms, urine leakage, cloudy or foul smelling urine.
What are VP's respiratory exercises, and how are they documented?

How much food and liquid should VP have per meal?
1/2 cup of food and 1/2 cup of liquid. Slick diet- alternate a bite of food and a sip of liquid/jello.
What is VP's Day 2 constipation medication?
Day 2 bowel care protocol: administer 15 ml Lactulose by mouth every 4 hours.
Which PRN would you administer if VP has a red, itchy rash?
Hydrocortisone 1% cream can be applied topically up to three times daily as needed for itchy rash.
When would a delegated staff administer a PRN saline catheter irrigation?
Administer the PRN saline irrigation if the catheter is potentially clogged (VP feels like he has to urinate, bladder spasms, low urine output).
What is VP's "respiratory trifecta" of meds/treatments for cough?
Vick's Vapor rub, guafenesin, and albuterol inhaler.
What texture is VP's food?
Minced with added moisture. All foods should be soft and easy to eat with minimal chewing necessary. Dime-sized bites.
How and when should an inhaler be primed?
Prime every inhaler before using for the first time, and if it has not been used in 4 weeks or more. Release 4 sprays into the air away from the face, shaking well between each spray.
What supports are in place to prevent athlete's foot?
Keep feet clean and dry, apply Gold Bond powder twice daily, allow VP barefoot time to air out his toes.
What is VP's peri-care routine, and how is it documented?
PM Peri Care routine in Health Related Data Tracking. Use foaming peri cleaner to clean the entire peri area, wiping down the catheter tube away from his body. Dry with a soft towel. Also wash the peri area during showers.
