Scales of Measurement
Qualitative Validity Check
100
It refers to quality more than quantity. A level of measurement is simply a matter of distinguishing by name, e.g., 1 = male, 2 = female. Even though we are using the numbers 1 and 2, they do not denote quantity
What is Nominal
100
The interpretation and report (or a portion of it) is given to members of the sample (informants) in order to check the authenticity of the work. Their comments serve as a check on the viability of the interpretation
What is Memeber Check
200
Refers to order in measurement. A scale indicates direction, in addition to providing nominal information. Low/Medium/High; or Faster/Slower
What is ordinal
200
Is a method used by qualitative researchers to check and establish validity in their studies by analyzing a research question from multiple perspective
What is Triangulation
300
Provide information about order, and also possess equal intervals. An example of this scale is temperature, either measured on a Fahrenheit or Celsius scale. A degree represents the same underlying amount of heat, regardless of where it occurs on the scale.
What is Interval Scale
300
The purpose of this is to examine the process and the product of the research inquiry. It examines the trail materials used by the researcher, such as raw data, data reduction and analysis products, reconstruction and synthesis products, notes, materials related to intentions and dispositions, and instrument development information.
What is External Auditor
400
In addition to possessing the qualities of nominal, ordinal, and interval scales, this scale has an absolute zero (a point where none of the quality being measured exists).I
