What is the district cell phone policy?
District Policy prohibits the use of cellphones during the school day. Therefore, it is in violation of school policy for staff members to be on cell phones during the instructional periods. If this occurs, you will be reminded verbally the first time followed by a written statement afterward.

Does staff have to sign in/out each day?
All Staff are required to Sign in/Out upon entering and leaving the building daily, this includes leaving the building for lunch. The Staff sign in sheet is located by the front door. All staff should enter through the front doors only.

What are the report times for the staff?
School begins at 9:00 am and dismisses at 3:50 pm. Each staff member should report according to the role report time.

What are the blackout days where you will be docked pay?
Blackout days (dock days) are the first and last 5 student days. Blackout days are also the immediate day before and after a holiday or break, inclement weather when school is in session and professional development days.
Can you record a student to show their behaviors and send the video to their cell phone or email?
Do not use record students and take photos of students in as a way of managing behavior.
When are lesson plans due?
Lesson plans should be uploaded to the designated Google Drive folder by 9:00am every Monday utilizing the district lesson plan format. They should also be submitted to the lesson plan folder located in the Google Drive Turn in Folder.

How do you report an absence?
Anytime a staff member will be absent, will be late, or must leave early, staff must email or text or call Mrs. Tiller at 816-456-8708 and Mrs. Dillard at 816-419-9471.
Fill out a HRD leave form and put absence in Frontline ( request a sub) - Refrain from going to the building sub to cover your class when you are absent.
Who is required to report child abuse?
All employees are required by law to report any suspicion of this to Child Protective Services within 48 hours of the event

Bulletin boards, particularly those outside the classroom, must be changed monthly.

When are the Rocket Launch Assemblies?
Every Monday (or 1st day students return for the week) Rocket Launch Assemblies will be held in the gym at 9:00 am. Our Rocket Launch Assemblies serve as a time to celebrate student success, reinforce our school values, and build a sense of community and pride among students and staff. Arrive at 8:55 am so the assembly can start promptly at 9:00 am. To arrive on time, have students eat breakfast and have restroom breaks after the assembly.
Who attends the SAFE meetings?
The SAFE team is made up of the Family School Liaison, supplemental teacher, counselor, process coordinator, school psychologist, building assigned behavior interventionist teachers, and a building level administrator.
Do students have to attend Specials?
By State Law, students are required to have 50 minutes of art, music and physical education. These classes are taught by certified teachers who take great pride in promoting the arts and creating balance in the life of students. At no time, should a student be held back from attending Specials’ class without permission of the principal.
What is the Professional Dress for (Staff)?
Staff is expected to dress in a professional manner (business casual, smart casual/dressy casual) which honors their function as building role models. Permanently stained or torn clothing should never be worn in a professional education setting. Athletic or gym attire is not a professional dress except for the PE teacher and on Wellness Wednesdays. Please dress professionally. Shorts, dresses, and skirts must be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee. Jeans are not acceptable attire, with the exception of designated days.
Can I wear jeans to work?
Staff that have paid dues ($35 for certified & $25 for classified) for the Courtesy committee will be allowed to wear jeans every Friday. Those dues will go directly to the office for collection.

What do I do with a student who needs to be removed from your class?
Only staff members who are SCM trained are allowed to do a hold or carry on a student. SCM trains staff to use verbal deescalation techniques before using holds and carries. If you need assistance for a crisis situation, call the office
White- staff or student needs a break
Ex. A student has a plan that consists of a break and needs one or the teacher needs a restroom break , “Mrs. Tiller to office…I have a code white, room 18”
Yellow- Help, but not an emergency (no one is in danger, but assistance is needed)
Ex., A student is walks out and is standing outside the doorway, a kid is refusing to move, “Mrs. Tiller to office…I have a code yellow, Room 4”
Orange- Help right now (evacuation, throwing/tossing furniture, fight, medical-the students cannot move, broken limb, seizure, &etc.)
Ex. A kid has fallen off the swing and broken their arm at recess…”Mrs. Tiller to Nurse…I have a code orange on the 3-5 playground.”
Green- Eloping (Give grade and hallway- ex. Code Green, Gr. 1, K-2 hall)

I have an emergency and need to leave for the day. Can the secretary run copies of work packets for my students?
It is equally important that you create an Emergency Sub folder to be kept in the Front Office. This folder of material will only be used by a sub in the event of an unplanned, emergency absence. It is your responsibility to make sure the student materials are copied and updated, after being used. Emergency plans are due Tuesday, September 2nd during grade level meetings.
