what are poppy seeds

The seeds are chewed and swallowed in small amounts, as too many can cause excessive drowsiness or even be dangerous. Poppy seeds are round, black, and come from the poppy flower, which has large, red or orange petals and grows in sunny, open areas like meadows or near Twoleg gardens. They are not given to nursing queens, as the sedative effects can harm their kits
