As the deforestation increases in the rainforests of Brazil, describe how the water cycle would be affected by the changes in forested areas.
With less trees in the rain forest, there is much less water entering the atmosphere through transpiration. This means that there is less water condensing into clouds and decreasing the amount of precipitation in the area, which provides less water for new plants to be able to grow in deforested areas.

Explain TWO ways water changes from a liquid in the biosphere or hydrosphere (Earth's surface) to water vapor in the atmosphere (the air).
Energy from the Sun causes water to evaporate from the surface of bodies of water.
Water transpired from the leaves of plants.
Water vapor leaves animals and humans through respiration.
Describe the water cycle.
For the full 500 points, you must include all of these terms: gravity, energy from the Sun, evaporation, condensation, precipitation, runoff, and storage/groundwater.
Energy from the Sun heats up a water molecule and causes it to break away and evaporate into the atmostphere. Once in the atmosphere, the lower temperatures will cause the water to condensate and accumulate into a cloud. The cloud will get too heavy and precipitation (or rain) will occur. Rain on mountains or hills will be pulled by gravity as runoff towards reservoirs and can soak into the ground and become groundwater. Then it continues again and again and again.
Describe how water moves through Earth's systems including land, surface water, and the atmosphere. Identify the forces that drive the processes that move the water.
Precipitation occurs which puts snow or rainwater over land and mountains. Gravity pulls water downhill. The water forms streams and rivers that gravity pulls towards lakes and oceans. Sunlight evaporates water from plants and lakes/oceans into the atmosphere and the cycle repeats.
