What is watershed???
A common water way takes caries pollution with it.
What is pollution??
Runoff from agricultural lands, urban areas, and industrial site that carries waste.
What is climate change??
Long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns, primarily caused by human activities like burning fossil fuels.
What is environmental damage?
Harm caused to the environment, typically due to pollution, resource depletion, and other human activities, leading to negative consequences for the economy, health, and natural systems.
Rule number 1!
No shouting out the answer.
Do I live in a watershed???
Everyone lives in a watershed.
What is urbanization??
The process of making an area more urban.
What is air pollution??
The presence of harmful substances in the atmosphere, such as gases, particles, and chemicals, at concentrations that can have adverse effects on human health, the environment, and property.
What is public health risks??
Risks that are effecting the public with their health.
Rule number 2!!
Send up 1 person from each team to the front.
How does water flow through a watershed??
Water moves downhill due to gravity, and can flow on the surface (runoff) or underground (groundwater flow).
What is estuary??
A unique coastal ecosystem where freshwater from rivers and streams mixes with saltwater from the ocean.
What is water pollution??
Contamination of water bodies like rivers, lakes, and oceans with harmful substances, making the water unsafe for human and animal use.
What is untreated flow??
Significant volumes of untreated sewage and industrial waste.
Rule number 3!!!
Each team gets 1 hint.
Lakes, streams, rivers, wetlands, and even underground aquifers are all part of a watershed.
What is coastal pollution??
River that carries polluted water into oceans and makes that ocean polluted such as IB beach.
What is habitat destruction??
The process where a natural habitat is altered or destroyed to the point where it can no longer support the native species that depend on it.
What are some ongoing efforts by U.S and Mexico??
1. Making water plants
2. Having community service for the TJ river
3. And much more
Rule number 4!!!!
Don't ask other teams for help.
What is a watershed document???
A document that shows the watershed movements.
What is water quality degradation??
Untreated wastewater, industrial toxins, and debris that contaminate water bodies such as the TJ river.
What is resource depletion?
The exhaustion or significant decline of natural resources due to unsustainable use or extraction, often exceeding their natural regeneration or replacement rates.
What is environmental justice??
Facing a crisis due a horrendous amount of pollution.
Rule number 5!!!!!
Have fun!!!!!!!
