This document set up our country's government. It sets up the rules for how laws are made, who will make the laws, who will decide when we go to war, and who will have specific powers to make important decisions.
What is the US Constitution?

This Compromise decided how each state would be represented in our nation's legislative branch. It stated that each state would have equal representation in the senate with two representatives from each state. It also stated that the House of Representatives representation would be based on population.

This branch of government is made up of the President. He has the power to veto or approve bills. He also chooses the US supreme court judges.

This whas the compromise that stated that slaves would count as three fifths. In other words for every 5 slaves, they would be counted as 3 white males.

This branch of government is made up of Congress. Congress is broken down into two parts; the House of Representatives and the Senate. This branch works to make laws for our nation.

These people have checks and balances that include the ability to pass a law that the president vetoes if 2/3 agree to the law. They also decides how many courts to create in addition to the Supreme Court and how many judges work in each court.

This is the brief introduction to the Constitution that states the purpose for why the Constitution was created. It breifly explains what the founding fathers hoped to achieve from creating the Constitution.

These people were unhappy with the idea that slaves would not be counted in the population when determining representation in the House of Representatives.
Who are the people in the South. These people were unhappy because there were so many slaves in the south. Slavery occured mostly in the southern states. Having the slaves count in the population allowed these southern states to have more representation in Congress.

This branch of government is made up of our courts and judges. This branch determines whether or not laws are constitutional and whether or not people are following the Constitution.

This person has the checks and balanes to veto a law that Congress has proposed. This person also chooses people to become U.S. judges.

This states that everyone shall have freedom of religion, speech, and freedom of the press. This allows anyone to voice their own opinion and practice any religion that they wish to.

These people decide whether or not the laws agree with the constitution. They also decide if the laws that Congress proposes are Constitutional.

These people are the founding fathers of the Constitution. They wanted to make a change to assure that our government was organized and was going to be successful.
