What is an Air Mass?
...a large body of air that has uniform temperature and humidity
Describe how a front forms
Where 2 air masses meet
What type of weather will most likely occur if this symbol is on the weather map?
Clear Sky
What type of weather is Florida about to experience?
How many siblings does Mr. Miskel have?
2 sisters
What type of air mass forms over land and tends to be warm?
Continental Tropical
What type of front occurs when a cold air mass pushes into a warm air mass?
2x points!! - what weather does this cause?
Cold Front
2x points!! - fast moving dangerous T-storms, heavy rain
Which way does the wind blow?
From an area of High pressure toward an area of Low pressure
What do you think the temperature is in the Panhandle of Texas vs the Southeastern part of Texas?
2x points!! - Can you explain why?
Panhandle = Colder
SE TX - Warmer
2x points!! - Because the cold front hasn't hit SE TX yet

Which air mass is typically warm and moist, formed over oceans?
Maritime Tropical
Describe what happens during a warm front.
Warm air is pushed up slowly and long lasting, sprinkly/drizzly rain occurs, overcast sky
What is the relationship between low pressure systems and precipitation?
Low pressure is less dense which leads to warm, humid air rising and forming clouds to then cause precipitation.
According to this map...which way is the wind blowing?
Out Of The WEST
What NFL team does Mr. Miskel like?

Name the two characteristics used to classify air masses.
Temperature and level of humidity
What type of front most likely would lead to flooding?
Stationary Front
What is the term for the weight of the air above a surface?
Air Pressure
What kind of weather is Northern Mexico having and explain why you know this.
Stormy weather because of Low pressure and the Occluded front.
What did Mr. Miskel get his College Degree in?
Exercise Physiology
How do changes in air mass movement affect local weather conditions?
When air masses meet, fronts form which cause warm, humid air to rise and create precipitation
Explain how an Occluded front occurs, draw the symbol.
Cold front catches up to a warm front that is moving in the same direction.
Why did the coke can implode?
The water vapor in the coke can condensed rapidly which formed an area of low pressure inside the coke can relative to outside...pressure goes from HIGH toward LOW and the aluminum could not maintain its shape with all of the pressure rushing in to balance.
Is this image accurate for what actually happens with this type of front? Really think about this one...
Yes! don't overthink it...
Where did Mr. Miskel grow up?
Dallas, TX
