Invasive species is a plant or animal that has been introduced to an ecosystem where it has no natural predators and so is allowed to multiply and overtake the ecosystem.  Invasive plants can strangle out other plant species.  Invasive animals can consume food sources for native animals or consume and obliterate native animal species.
