Cell phone is to be kept in backpack during class and remains in backpack until the student has exited into the hallway.

When do I turn in my assignments for Bell Work,

Bell Work= beginning of the when the starting class bell rings.
Group work = due during class.
Exit Ticket = before the ending class bell rings.
Test or quiz = turned in immediately

What should I do if I forgot to bring a pencil for class?
Ask a classmate to borrow one
Raise my hand, and at the beginning of class, to borrow a pencil from Ms. Fitten
Make sure to RETURN the pencil at the end of the class period
What do I do if I enter the classroom at the beginning of class and I am feeling restless, angry or upset?
Walk into the classroom quietly and go directly to my assigned seat.
Begin working on the bell work or task assigned on the PowerPoint slide.
Sit at my desk quietly and wait for attendance to be taken by Ms. Fitten.
Raise my hand, be patient for Ms. Fitten's acknowledgement.
Request to stand out in the hallway for quiet time and to gather my thoughts for a maximum of 5 minutes
What if I am sick, have an emergency or/and I will not be able to attend class.
First, check Canva for the day's assignment.
Complete the assignment and submit it before returning back to school.
Send Ms. Fitten an email with questions about the assigned work, if needed. sfitten@usd259.net
Upon return to school, go to the E-Hall Pass Site and submit a request (before 9th hour) to meet with Ms. Fitten during Advocacy.

What are the expectations for independent work?
Give 3 steps
Voice level 0.
1. Working on my own work and keep eyes on my own paper.
2. Complete individual assignment
3. No movement and remain in my seat unless I raise my hand and ask for permission
What is the procedures for entering into the classroom?
Before entering the door, put on student ID and place cell phone in your backpack.
Walk in quietly.
Get materials needed
Go directly to my seat and start work on anything listed to be completed (for example: Bell Work)
What do I do if I enter class, at the beginning of the hour, and I need to see the nurse, administrator or counselor right away?
(If I am dizzy or feeling nauseous, notify the teacher right away).
1.Walk into the classroom quietly and go directly to my assigned seat.
2.Begin working on the bell work task at my assigned seat.
3.Sit at my desk quietly and wait until attendance is taken.
4.Raise your hand and be patient.
5.Request to meet with the nurse, administrator or counselor
6.Listen quietly for Ms., Fitten's direction for completing an E-Hall pass to see the nurse.
7.Wait patiently for Ms. Fitten to call the Administrator or Counselor to make a request for your visit.
(Note: If they do not respond and/or say they are not available, Ms. Fitten cannot grant your request to meet with them)
What if I am tired or I do not feel like participating in classroom activities?
Raise my hand and ask Ms. Fitten to spend 2-3 minutes siting in the hallway to prepare to participate. OR
Quietly participate without laying head down on the desk.
LAYING YOUR HEAD DOWN ON THE DESK OR LAB STATION IS NOT AN OPTION!
Where can you find the CHAMPS expectations?
On the wall to the left as you enter the classroon and by the classroom door.
What are the expectations for an emergency?
Stay calm
Maintain voice level 0
Stay seated and listen for directions.
What is the procedure for laptops?
Laptop are required to be charged overnight at home.
Laptops should be closed and put away unless Ms. Fitten says otherwise; otherwise means they are listed on the Beginning of the Hour PowerPoint Slide for materials needed.
During class, the ONLY tabs allowed to be open are those for work being completed during class.
What do I do if a classmate blurts out or talks while Ms. Fitten is giving directions?
Remain at a voice level 0
Listen quietly for Ms. Fitten's response.
What if I do not like the group/person I am working with for a group assignment?
Participate by finding a moderate role like the Timekeeper or Data Designer (Scribe).
Be a great listener for the group!
Complete the assignment with the group and turn it in no matter what!
What is the goal of CHAMPS?
To create a space where everyone knows the expectations and follows them, which leads to success.
What is the procedure for requesting to leave the classroom?
(6 steps)
1.Have on student ID.
2.Have my laptop
3.Fill out E-Hall Pass (for the restroom or nurse
4.Raise my hand to ask for permission (zero voice level)
5.Wait patiently for my turn and stay in my seat (or at my lab station) until Ms. Fitten calls my name to exit the room.
6. Return to class in 3-4 minutes
What is the procedure for a fire drill?
Quietly and make a line in front of the door.
Quietly and calmly walk down the hallway following Ms. Fitten
Stay with my class period and stand in a line
Wait there quietly until further direction.
What do I do if Ms. Fitten gives a direction to one of my classmates and they respond inappropriately?
Remain at 0 voice level
Listen quietly for Ms. Fitten to respond
Remain quiet while Ms. Fitten addresses the student's behavior.
What if I do not agree with something Ms. Fitten says or a direction she asks to follow?
Respectfully disagree by:
Listening with a zero voice level.
Continue following Ms. Fitten's directions, participate in all class activities and turn in your work in at the end of class as assigned.
After the bell rings and your classmates are exiting the classroom, quietly and respectfully ask Ms. Fitten if she will explain in more detail. Ms. Fitten will give you a pass to enter into your next class but, wait patiently for her to notify your next teacher via email.
