The Maltby Centre is a free mental health resource that provides one on one counselling in our school. Martha Leonard, is the Maltby worker who currently comes to GREC weekly. Maltby services for ages 0-24

What is Kairos? What services do they provide?
Kairos is a counselling service which specializes in treatment for youth who are experiencing any level of substance use/misuse, personally or with a family member. Our service is available as an outreach program in all elementary and secondary schools within KFL&A, as well as alternative education sites and group homes.

She is the Guidance Counsellor, she will help guide you with your course selections throughout the next 4 years
Is smoking/Vaping tobacco or marijuana products acceptable on school property?
Students and staff who smoke during the school day must do so at the designated smoking area. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on school property. if caught doing so the students/staff may be charged with a $305 fine or summoned to appear in court
What is the LDSB Social Worker? and what is his role in the school?
(all secondary, limited elementary) provide crisis intervention support and one-to-one counselling in the areas of mental health, substance abuse, trauma, social determinants of health, etc. Social Workers may be accessed through self-referral, or a member of the in-school team. Parental consent is not required for secondary students to see the Social Worker; it is required for elementary students under the age of 12, unless there is immediate concern for student safety.

What is Ms.Thorne's role in the school?
She is the Library Technician, she is in charge of booking appointments in the fishbowl, registering books and making sure our library books are being returned after they are borrowed. You can go to Ms.Thorne for Chromebooks and she handles the locks for lockers

Rural Frontenac Community Services Youth Program
Our program is set up so that all youth have an ability to grow into teens that are healthy, successful and engaged through a supportive setting. They also engage youth by removing barriers such as prohibitive fee costs and transportation.

She is the ACW (Adolescent Care Worker), she provides social and emotional support for students in the school
What is the expectation of academic excellence?
Each student is expected to maintain good work habits by: completing all homework, assignments, and projects as directed by the required deadline; making up missed work; coming to class prepared and ready to participate (with the necessary books, pens, calculators, gym wear etc. as appropriate) and by participating constructively in class.
