What are the 4 S's?

RESPECT for

Self, Students, Staff, School

100

How can you show respect for yourself at school?

Dress appropriately, choose words that make you sound smart/dignified, help those in need, listen to others.............

100

Name the location on campus where I have seen:

1. sushi being prepared on a counter....no joke.  It got sold in the hallway later.

2. food, including Spam, stored in the ceiling

3. Literally 14 people standing in small circles, not doing what the room was designed for

The bathroom - most often the 100s and 500s, although I've seen some stuff in the 400s also.

Let's talk about the bathroom...........

100

What gas do plants take in during photosynthesis?

Do not say "air"....air is a mixture of gases and only one of them helps plants grow.

Carbon dioxide

200

What has to be worn around your neck and visible at all times?

Your student ID

BONUS: Are you allowed to decorate your ID?

200

How can you show respect for others?

Be nice - your day will get better

Help those in need - imagine if more people did this:)

Learn about other's background/experiences

If you are disrespectful when I'm around, it's not going to go well for you.........

200

Describe our policy with hats and hoodies.

You can wear hats all you want, but you can never have a hoodie covering any part of your head.

Years ago, the student council fought for this and won.  Why one and not the other?  Simple, really.....hats can be easily IDed on camera, a person in a hoodie cannot be identified.  It's about safety.

Don't wear your hoodies.

200

Plants make energy through photosynthesis - how do animals make energy?

Cell Respiration produces ATP, the body's main energy source

300

Describe the "No Cell, Bell to Bell" state law.

You may not use any personal electronic devices during the school day, including lunch. Period.  Includes, but not limited to: phones, ear buds, smart glasses & watches, headphones*, tablets, or computers not issued by the school.

* In rare cases, students will be allowed to have personal headphones.  If this applies to you, you already know it.

300

How can you show respect for staff members?

Be kind and grateful - our school CANNOT work without cafe workers, custodians, Instructional Aides, office workers, etc.  A kind word of thanks will make their day:)

Respond respectfully - you may be asked for your ID or where you're going.  We are doing this for everyone's safety, not to pick on you.

300

What does it mean to be "tardy" and why is this bad?

Tardy means you are not in the room (both feet) when the second bell rings.  99% of the time, tardies are based on choices (walk gf to class, hang out in bathroom, etc.).  I will not accept your excuses.

Why is it bad? Will get you fired at work, disrespectful of my time and your classmates, interrupts class, on and on and on.

300

Place these organisms in the correct order in a trophic pyramid, from bottom to top:

eagle, mouse, grass, grasshopper, snake

Grass - primary producer

Grasshopper - primary consumer (herbivore)

Mouse - secondary consumer (omnivore)

Snake - tertiary consumer (carnivore)

Eagle - quaternary consumer (carnivore)

400

Tell the class about our semester test exemption policy.  What ONE CLASS can determine whether or not you take finals?

See the sign above the whiteboard.

Missing Advisory more than 5 times means you take all finals, regardless of grades/attendance/begging/etc.

400

How can you show respect for our school?

Take care of materials - computers, desks, books, etc.

If you do damage or break something, be honest and everything will be fine.  If you try to cover it up, problems get worse.

400

Check out the big board at the back of class with all the flags - what do you think "All are Welcome" means?

People, cultures, ideas, backgrounds

400

As we move up a trophic pyramid, how much energy is LOST at each level?  Energy is lost as heat due to everyday life activities......

90% is lost between each level, which helps explain why populations get smaller as we move up the pyramid.

500

Describe our dress code.  Be sure to discuss hoodies.

Show respect for yourself with how you dress - if you are wondering if you can wear something, the answer is probably no.

Boys - no hoodies up, pants around your waist, nothing ridiculous on your shirt

Young Ladies - pay attention to acceptable shirt/skirt lengths

We will give you old, ugly clothes to wear for the rest of the day:)

500

Describe bullying

Physical or emotional abuse of another person in an attempt to create a power imbalance - can be in person, online, by text, or other.

If you bully others, you are a coward and you are weak.

600

Discuss why security on campus is important everyday - we have lots of exterior doors.  What can you do to help keep our campus safe?

Students never ever ever open the door for anyone, not even da homies. It is never okay.  Never.

If you see someone on campus who does not have a student or district ID, tell a teacher/Admin/SRO immediately.
