Yes, the Library keeps copies of current newspapers which students may borrow with an ID card or access newspapers through our databases on the Library homepage.

No! The librarians are available to teach information literacy for day and evening and weekend classes.

No. All WCC students, faculty and staff can do research from any computer with internet access 24/7.

Yes. There are multiple ways your students can contact a librarian for help.

My students will need to rely on Wikipedia for their papers because there's "nothing in the library."
No! The library has nearly 200,000 books and 78 databases giving access to millions of articles. We are currently building our e-book collection too.

It is possible to borrow books that the library does not own or articles that are not in the databases.
Yes. The Library's Interlibrary Loan Service will request books and articles from another Library, but note that it may take up to three weeks.

I have to call to set up an information literacy appointment.
No. From the library homepage, go to the Information Literacy Instruction link under Faculty Support and fill out the form to schedule your class.

If there is no information literacy session scheduled, I can use library room 220 for my class.
No. The User Education Room is reserved for library related classes, meetings and staff training only.

My students have access to unlimited free printing on campus.
No. Printing for academic purposes is free for registered students, but their is a limit of 500 pages per semester.

Yes, but they often have trouble putting it into practice.

The library offers a separate Citation and Plagiarism session in addition to Information Literacy classes.

Can I get help with my own research?
Yes. The library provides an in-depth research service for faculty. Go to the Research Services link on the library homepage for more information.

Online, interactive research guides are available from the library homepage to help my students with class assignments.
Yes. Under the Research tab, click on Research Guides to access general and subject specific research guides for your class.

All circulating books are located on the 2nd floor of the library.
No. There are also circulating books located on the 1st and 3rd floors of the Library.

I can come to the library and make photocopies for my class.
No. Your division office or repro will help you in making bulk copies of your course materials.

My students can ask for a reserve item at the Circulation Desk by the name of my class.
No. They must have the title of the textbook or the instructor's name and class number.

The only way for my students to watch a movie from the library is to borrow the dvd.
No. The library offers a streaming video service for you to embed films into your BlackBoard shells.
Fill out the Streaming Video Request form on the library homepage to request a streaming video for your class.

No! ResearchPath is a 6-part interactive tutorial with quizzes that will help reinforce information literacy concepts.

Contact Beth Seelick if you would like to have ResearchPath embedded in your BlackBoard shell.

If you need tech support with Blackboard, you can go to the Online Education located on the 3rd floor of the Library
Yes. While a librarian or tech may be able to answer a brief questions, the Online Education office is the expert.
The Instructional Designer is currently in Room 223 in the library.
