Explain Marbury v. Madison
Adams appointed Marbury to an office position in his final hours as President, but the next day Jefferson told his Secretary of State, Madison, to not give the appointment to Marbury. This led to a Supreme Court case which led to judicial review (it ruled that Marbury did not get the commission/position) after all.

What happened in the Election of 1800?
The vote for the presidency was a tie between Jefferson and Burr (his running mate), both getting more votes than Adams (incumbent they ran against). Thus, the vote went to the House of Representatives between Jefferson and Burr with the outcome in favor of Jefferson (after 36 votes). This led to the passage of the 12th Amendment, so this would not happen again.
