False. ANY and ALL 'work' off campus, paid or unpaid, must be authorized in advance. If a student works off campus without prior authorization, s/he is in violation of his/her visa.

There are 6 steps to applying for CPT; list 3.
1. Must receive employment offer letter with start/end date, position title, responsibilities and # of hours of work per week.
2. Complete the CPT Request form (available in the International Office
3. Complete the Internship Learning Contract (available at the Career Center, requires internship supervisor and faculty advisor signatures).
4. Schedule meeting at least 7 days in advance of when the internship will begin to apply for CPT.
5. Meet with Robyn who will review the documents and make the official request in SEVIS. New I-20 is printed.
6. Internship Learning Contract must be given to the Career Center BEFORE the Last Day to Add a Class.
