Think of the words we just used, understandable, employable, adorable, comfortable....

It means capable of, something that is fit for, or worthy of.

If you are employable it means you're worthy of the job you are hired for. If something is understandable to you, that means you are capable of understanding it.

What does the suffix 'ing' mean?

Think of the words running, playing, doing...

It changes a word to the present tense, it means you're DOING something. 

Running means “to run in the present tense.” When the suffix -ing is added to run, it changes the meaning of the word.

Think of the words looked, decided, painted, landed......

It changes a word to the past tense or to act in the past. 

Picked means “choose (someone or something) from a number of options.” When the suffix -ed is added to pick, it changes the meaning of the word.
