This bird is the biggest non flying species, their eggs can hold the weight of a 300 pound human, and have huge eyelashes to block out the bright sun of the grasslands in Africa!

These amphibians can only be found in Lake Xochimilco in Mexico. These animals do have the ability to regrow limbs if they lose one. The feather gills on the side of their head act as a filter to extract oxygen from the water to breathe.

This winged insect has over 20,000 different species and can be found on every continent except Antarctica. The patterns and colors are always symmetrical. These insects have 4 wings and 6 legs attached to their thorax (chest), and have special sensors through their feet to taste.

Spiders do this type of behavior that creates homes, to catch food, and lay eggs. This material is made of silk and can be very sticky and even stronger than steel. The Darwins Bark Spider makes the biggest of these that can stretch at around 82 feet.

Features are no eyes, no brain, no heart but they do in fact have a mouth and stomach and are made up of 95% water. Despite fish being in the name it isn’t even a fish. Watch out! This type of long Amazonian fish can release shocks of up to 800 volts when predators or prey are close or as a form of communication within their groups. This animal also has a certain fish in its name but it’s actually not a true type of that fish. These fish can be found in muddy areas where they have the ability to live in low oxygen areas in the water and have to come up for fresh breath of air.

This type of winged insect is only found in North America and Europe and is very fuzzy and large. They are known for their very loud “buzzing” sound and their scientific name Bombus means "Booming". Oftentimes confused with another insect these types do not make honey.

This bird can be misunderstood for its feeding behavior. Only 23 species of these birds exist and live mostly in Africa. These birds are scavengers and only feed on deceased animals. The stomach acids in these animals are strong enough to digest bones. Although they can be seen as scary, these birds do play an important role in ecosystems and pick up any dead animals that can introduce diseases into the ecosystem.

One type of this bird has the 2nd largest wingspan compared to a California Condor, has a special pouch in their bottom beak that can hold over 3 gallons of water, and can be found on every continent except Antarctica. These birds only come in the colors of white, brown, and black.

These types of aquatic animals have a special name when they are warm blooded, some have hair, give live birth, have a pair of lungs to receive breaths of open air, and have the ability to live in water and outside of water for certain periods. Examples of species within this group are Sea Lions, Whales, and Otters.

This type of insect does have wings but instead of flying they use it as a defense mechanism against predators. Special features include 5 eyes, can see in 3-D, have one ear, and head turns of 180 degrees. This type of insect is also an excellent hunter and carnivorous and can eat anything that is smaller than its body.

Beavers are known and spend most of their time doing this behavior. This behavior consists of finding the right tree and building this certain home. This behavior is used to protect themselves against large predators such as bears and wolves and to store food. In some cases these homes can be used to control the water flow.

This type of large snake is non venomous and some can grow over 13 feet long and weigh over 100 pounds. The only location this type of snake is found is in South America and is Nocturnal (is active at night time). In the name these snakes are known for their capability to squeeze their prey very tightly. In order to swallow their prey whole these snakes mouths can open at 180 degrees.

From the genus Psittacus there are 400 different species of this type of bird. Certain features are a curved beak to crush food, clawed toes, and are mainly located in tropical regions. This family of birds also have the record of living the longest with most reaching over 90 years old.

 This type of animal. Yes, I say animal since it looks like a plant but it’s actually an animal! These creatures are made up of hundreds if not thousands of little structures called polyps. There are over 6,000 known species of these animals. These animals do play a very important role such as providing food, shelter for other animals, and as filtration systems to protect ocean environments.

 This type of insect only feasts on the blood of animals and humans. The females of this insect are actually the only ones who drink blood in order to lay eggs. These insects can also communicate between one another by the beat of their wings and have a sense of smell for a certain chemical in sweat. These insects do not fly very high and only stay below 25 feet. This insect is also the world's most dangerous animal due to diseases it can spread.

The Palm Cockatoo in Australia is the only animal outside of humans in the wild to create a musical instrument. Male (boy) Palm Cockatoos will make their own rhythm in order to get the attention of the female (girl) Palm Cockatoo. Each rhythm session is different depending on the bird. This behavior is done by using a stick against an object.

This animal is not an insect but in fact closely related to lobsters, and shrimp. The name means “a thousand feet” but depending on the species they can have over 40 to 400 pairs of legs. This animal sometimes gets confused for another animal that is venomous but this one isn’t. As a protection mechanism this animal can curl up in a tiny ball very fast and their exoskeleton protects them from harsh forces.

This type of bird is found on every continent except Australia. Their beak is specialized to make holes and crevices inside trees where they roost at night. The head muscles have special adaptations to withstand the force of when making holes inside trees. Almost all species are found with a red, black, and white coloration.

This type of small aquatic bird is nicknamed as “Parrot of the sea”. They spend most of their life in the open ocean and spend 4 months of the year on land to raise young. These birds can dive at depths at around 50 feet and stay under for about 2minutes. 90% of all species can be found in different areas around Europe.

This winged insect spends most of their life underground and only emerges at the end of their life, to lay eggs, or when the soil is warm. These creatures have a built in muscle called a “tymbal” which makes loud vibrations and can be heard from a certain distance by humans. These insects only feast on a special sap from trees called xylem.

Depending on the time of year animals do this behavior when they have to travel from one location to another. This traveling is very long distances and only happens during certain seasons. In birds this behavior only happens twice a year in early Spring and late Fall. A big event of this happens in Africa where over 1 million Wildebeest, Zebras, and Gazelle do this across East Africa.

This type of underwater creature also known as a bivalve (has two shell halves) lives in both fresh and saltwater environments. There are over 15,000 different species of this animal and the biggest type can grow over 4 feet and weigh over 500 pounds. They also have up to 200 eyes inside their shell. Though these creatures aren’t seen as the cutest animals, they actually play a big role in purifying water in Aquatic ecosystems to create a healthy space.
