This type of ecosystem can be located in South America, Asia, and even in some parts of Africa. This specific ecosystem experiences heavy rainfall with getting over 300 inches of rain a year. Known for having good biodiversity such as hiding spots for animals, providing food for animals and people along with clean air , this ecosystem does face trouble due to human impact and climate change.

Camels are famously known for having one of these on their back. A common myth is that camels can store water in one of these but instead it’s fat. This body feature can store up to 80 pounds of fat which provides energy and keeps them from getting thirsty.  When camels are born they do not have one of these until they eat solid food.

The most famous feature is the horn in the front of their face which is made of keratin (the same material as human fingernails). These animals can weigh 3,000 pounds and actually run on their toes due to their massive size. All species of this animal is considered endangered due to poaching for their horn.

This type of reptile is only seen on land only while a similar looking reptile is only found in water and land. This type are strictly herbivores and feed on cactus, flowers, and grasses. Another fun feature is that they can go a long long time without water and only benefit from getting water from their food. A certain type of this animal is named one of the longest living land animals in the world.

Known for its very hot and harsh climates there is even a cold one of these located in Mongolia that reaches freezing temperatures during the winter. These ecosystems are also known for having little rainfall at about 10 inches a year, but there are many animals and plants that have adaptations to survive in this environment.

This type of wild pig seeks shelter in a burrow and can only be found in Africa. This male type of this species will only be seen on their own for being solitary. These animals are famous for their big tusks and can run over 30 miles an hour. On the front of their face these animals have a certain facial marks to protect themselves against predators.

Known for their vocalization which can be a chirping to a barking sound as well as their capability to drop their tails as a defense mechanism. These special types of animals play a role as the building blocks in providing clean water, shelter for fish, and food sources. Known for their very dense fur to protect themselves against the snowy cold, if threatened or spooked they can run paces of up to 40 miles per hour. This animal is also the largest land mammal in the United States.

This reptile is the world’s largest as well as the heaviest lizard at 300 pounds. Known for their venomous bite and can eat every part of their prey they do run fast paces at around 45 miles per hour. These lizards also get their name from a mythical creature by the locals on the single island they live on. Be careful when visiting this island they can swim and bites can be fatal.

This type of ecosystem has barely any plant life and is only covered in snow most of the year. The expected total snowfall a year is around 75 inches. Temperatures in this ecosystem can reach about -40 degrees F in the winter and only about 54 degrees F in the summer. Iconic animals you can see in this ecosystem and have dense fur to survive in this climate are polar bears, caribou, mountain goats, and snow owls.

Most known feature is the giant antlers on the males which are shedded each year. These species can also swim and can dive about 20 feet for a short period. This animal is also the state animal of Maine.

This activity also protects the habitats in the wild such as in the Congo for Gorillas where mining for this item in this device is prevalent and can destroy habitats and Gorilla populations.  Named as the state animal of Nevada this animal can also be found in Southern Canada, all the way down the southwest of the United States into Mexico. The males are known for their big giant curly horns that weigh over 30 pounds. These animals stay in large social groups in high elevation hillsides and can survive very harsh desert climates. A special feature is that they can jump about 30 feet from ledge to ledge.

Named as the largest lizard to the United States these desert orange and black reptiles are known for their strong digging skills and venomous bite. These lizards are strict carnivores and have a slow metabolism where in some cases can go months without eating. In medical research the venom from these lizards have been used to help as treatment for those with Diabetes.
