Addie goes back to Le Mans and attempts to lie to a stable hand- the stable hand catches her, him and another man attempt to attack Addie but she gets away

Addie and Luc meet again in the Bar Luc owns. Luc tells her that she has not been human since that night they made the deal.- Addie doesn't like this but accepts it.

Addie is in Paris - she attempts to find shelter and is unable ( the lady at the inn forgets that she paid and kicks her out)
she attempts to seal a loaf of bread ( fails ) and leaves with no money.
then she goes to a cathedral and attempts to seek shelter but it not allowed in.

Addie is standing on the coast when luc shows up, they go for a walk and end up in a church. Luc asks if Addie ever wished she had prayed to god instead of him (she had) - then he shows her a ball of light that is actually a soul

it is "according to the deal" the day that henry will die. he gives Addie the gift of listening. this shows how much he has changed through the book- beginning as someone who wanted others to like him- now he would rather just be with Addie than anything else.
