What did Sun-Hee feel about learning the Japanese language when compared to Tae-Yul.
What is Sun-hee just went along with the flow, and tried to enjoy something that she didn't know wasn't wrong. She also didn't ever know anything about something else. Tae-Yul was not good at the Japanese language, and that is because of his feelings. He knew that there was something people used to have, freedom, and thought that being forced to learn this language was a form of stopping them from achieving freedom.

What is they had to show to the Koreans that they were usurping dominance in Korea, and that by changing the name of the people, which some consider as their souls, they would be erasing the Korean identity.

Why did Uncle change the famous Korean Olympic runner's Japanese name, Kitei Son, to his Korean name, Sohn Kee Chung.
What is Uncle changed it because if he's participating in the Olympic in his Japanese name, he's playing as a Japanese runner instead of a Korean runner. Uncle is mad because then the world wouldn't know him as a Korean and instead give honors to the Japanese instead.

Why do you think the rules got harsher the longer the Japanese stayed in rule over Korea?
What is they got harsher because during the end of the japanese rule, more and more materials were needed and since the people had so many things taken away from them. The Japanese believed that this might make the people of Korea suspect that the Japanese are losing the war so they made the rules they had implied on the Koreans harsher to make the koreans believe that they are not losing. This may also have been a motive from the Japanese to show the Koreans that they would be here forever, and that Korea would become the new Japan.

Even after the war, the Japanese try to make themselves look like the good ones while blaming the other nations to be the bad ones. What is Yes, Keoko's family was part of the resistance because almost every family member participated in the act of resistance, even in a small part. Uncle was part of the resistance and he publishes newspaper about the Japanese related things because he feels the need to show the real truth. Ajushi wrote the newspaper about education for children of Korean which was published by Uncle. Tae-yul become a Kamikaze(suicide bombers) with the main purpose of searching for his Uncle and decides that the truth is necessary to be told. Sun-hee was the one who uncoded Tae-yul's letters to show what was actually happening in the military. Omoni hid things that weren't allowed in the japan rules like the national Korean tree and her dragon-necklace.

What is the Koreans who lived in the older generation wasn't that influenced by the Japanese and they try to resist against the Japanese because the Koreans believe that the Japanese are trying to take away their freedom while the new generations do not see much wrong in the act and just go along with the flow.

What is the Koreans weren't allowed to live like the Japanese because the Japanese thought that only they could live the best life. They also thought that people other than them are not important and they wanted to show the other countries under their control that they've conquered and that they have power over their life and death.

Why did Korean families break up after the war when they were living on the opposite Korean country.
What is after the war, the two Korean countries got into a huge conflict because North Korea wanted the whole country to be communist but the South were trying to be democratic. Since both country did not like each other's' policy, they shut down the borders and did not allow the members in each country to visit the opposite country, which broke the family apart.

Why did Japan want control of Korea?
What is they wanted to show the world and the allies the dominance of the Japanese and that they could beat anybody. They may have conquered Korea to be closer to mainland China, to have more soldiers, and because they wanted more land. They could also get the natural resources that Korea has to help supply Japan and the military.
