This can be in a one on one conference or in a small group of 6 students. The studnets should be at the same reading level or working on the same reading strategy. Running Records are used to find the appropriate level. Scholastic, Reading A to Z, or Scott Foresman leveled books can be used. You work with these students while the other students are in centers.

This was a strategy taught last year on a Tuesday morning. It uses smaller pieces of text. The text should be read at least three times, each with a different purpose. New vocabulary and background knowledge can be explained.
