Why do you need to wear a helmet to ride a bike?
To keep your head safe in case you fall.
Why do we practice fire drills?
So we know what to do in case there's a real fire.
Why do people use spices/seasonings on their food?
To make it taste better or to get a certain flavor they want.
Why should you not share personal information with strangers - in person or online?
Because you don't know them and you can't know if they will try to hurt you.
Why do you have to wait a little bit before drinking freshly made coffee or tea?
Because it might be too hot and burn your tongue.
Why do you need to close medication and keep it away from kids?
Why should you not eat random plants in nature?
Because some of them are poisonous and can make you really sick.
Why do seagulls get close to people at the beach?
Because they associate people with food, and they always try to steal the food.
Why do you need to check expiration dates for food and medicine?
Because expired food and medicine can make you sick.

You're walking to the bus after work and a police officer flags you down. Why might the police officer want to get your attention?
You dropped something. / He wants to know if you saw something like an accident or a person.
Why is it important to follow the directions on medication - prescription or over-the-counter?
So that the medicine can work the way it's supposed to. / If you don't follow directions, you might have side effects and feel worse.
Why do you sometimes work in groups in school?
To learn how to work with others.
