You were at school and you were running in the hallway. You ran past a teacher and she gave you a look. What kind of look do you think was on her face and why? What do you think you should do?
Her look was mad that you were running. You should slow down and walk.

You got home from school really late because you stopped by the river on the way home and threw rocks. When you walked in the door your mom had a worried look on her face. What does a worried face look like? Why was she worried? What do you think you should say or do?
A worried face looks kind of angry and sad together. She didn't know where you were and why you were late. You should have called or apologize for making her worried.

After dinner on Friday night you wanted to go to the movies, but your mom said no because she didn’t have enough time to wash the dishes, pick up your sister, and get you to the movie theater on time. How do you feel about this? What could you do or say so that you could still go to the movies?
I would feel disappointed and maybe mad because I couldn't go. I could problem solve with Mom and help with the dishes and get dropped off before she has to pick up my sister.

You are playing video games with some kids and one of them burps out loud. His face turns red and everyone looks at him. Why did his face turn red? Why did everyone look at him? How do you think he felt? What could you say or do?
He felt embarrassed. They looked at him because it was rude and maybe because his face was red. He should say excuse me and not be embarrassed because it's no big deal.

Your friends finished their work, but you weren't finished yet. They were playing a game. How would you feel? What would you do?
I didn't care because I would rather do work. OR I wanted to play so I hurried up and finished my work.

Your teacher asked what kind of cupcake everyone wanted and you said you didn’t care, but the boy next to you said he wanted chocolate. Your teacher passed the cupcakes out and you got chocolate. You were about to eat it when you noticed the boy next to you had a sad face and had not touched his cupcake yet. What did his face look like? Why do you think he felt sad? What could you do about it?
Maybe he didn't get chocolate. I could give him my cupcake or trade him.

After soccer practice you hand out birthday invitations to everyone except a little boy you didn’t know. As you were leaving you saw him crying and talking to his mom. Why was the boy crying? What could you do or say?
Maybe because you didn't invite him to your party. You could ask him Mom if that's why he was crying. You could also invite him to the party or explain to him what you were handing out and that you didn't know him.

Your brother was out riding his new bike. He suddenly came running in the house crying. Why do you think he was crying and what could you do about it?
Maybe he was hurt. I could ask if he is okay or go help him.

Some kids are telling lies about your friend. How does that make you feel and what would you do?
I would tell the kids that those lies are not true. I would tell my friend what they said.

The teacher asked you a question in class, but you didn't know the answer. How do you feel? What do you do?
It's no big deal. I said I didn't know the answer.

You were at school having quiet free time. Everyone could choose something they wanted to do, so you chose to draw. You got out your favorite clicking pen that turned different colors every time you clicked. You were playing with your pen and you looked over at the boy next to you who was reading. He looked at you with a different look on his face that wasn’t very nice. What kind of face do you think he gave you? Why do you think he looked at you that way? What could you do about it?
He could have been annoyed at the clicking sound of the pen. Maybe I could not do that during quiet time or ask him if that's what was bothering him.

When you are out to lunch with a friend, your friend dropped his tray and his food went all over the floor. What do you think he is feeling and what would you do?
I would try not to laugh and help him pick up the food and tray. He can get more. He might feel embarrassed.

You are watching a movie with your little cousin about the coolest monster ever. You look over at you cousin and he has a scared look on his face. Why do you think he looks scared? What could you do or say?
He could be scared of the monster because he is younger. I could tell him that it's okay, or fast forward the movie, tell him to close his eyes, or pause it and do something with him.

Your friend was shooting baskets and missed every shot. How do you think he felt and what would you do?
I would tell him shooting baskets is tough, don't worry about it.

Your schedule changed. You will have an assembly instead of your favorite art class. How do you feel and what do you do about it?
I was bummed out, but it's no big deal. I can't do anything about it. I could ask the teacher if we can do art in the class or have an extra art class later this week.

A girl in your class is bossy and not very nice. One day she brought cookies for her birthday and handed them out to everyone one by one. When she got to you, she set the cookie on your desk, and then looked at you with her eyebrows raised and her mouth squished. Why did she do that? What did her face mean? What should you do?
She was just being mean. I should ignore her and if she gives me a cookie it's okay. If she doesn't, I don't care because she is not very nice and I can get a cookie at home.

While you were walking at the Y, a boy pushed you and started laughing. How does that make you feel and what would you do about it?
I would feel a little mad because he had no right to push me, but maybe he didn't mean to. I would either tell him, "excuse me, you just pushed me" or ignore him and walk away.

You and your brother both want to watch different shows on, at the same time. What do you do?
Record one, or go to different rooms, or one person decides to let the other person watch what they want

Your friend got a new haircut. You really liked it. What could you do?
Tell him I like it.

You were working on a test and the bell rang. You were not done. How do you feel? What would you do?
I felt a little anxious and rushed. I looked at the teacher to see if she wanted me to stop or finish the test. If she said I could finish, then I would finish. If we had to leave, then I would leave. No big deal.

Someone in your class teased you because you got so many wrong on your spelling test. How did you feel? What did you do?
I was annoyed but I ignored them. Everyone gets answers wrong sometimes.

I was at Dave and Buster's and someone was playing on the game I wanted to play for over 10 minutes. I was really getting inpatient. What should I do?
Ask them when they would be done, maybe they didn't realize you were waiting.

I really didn't want to take a bath, but I hadn't had one in 2 days and it was picture day...what should I do?
Suck it up and take one.

You and a friend were playing a game. Another classmate asked to join your game. What would you say?
I would say sure. If it is a 2 person game, we can take turns and one person can watch.

You noticed the new girl in class didn't have anyone to play with during recess. How would you feel if you were her? What would you do?
I would ask her if she wanted to play. If all the kids were playing a game together, she could play too. I could explain the rules to her.
