Born in Pepin, Wisconsin, in February of 1867, Laura Elizabeth Ingalls was the second daughter of Caroline Quiner and Charles Philip Ingalls. Wilder spent her early years constantly on the move. Her father dreamed of going further west to explore and settle unknown territory.

Strange fact- Houdini claimed to have been born on April 6, 1874 in Appleton, Wisconsin, he actually was born on March 24, 1874 in Budapest, Hungary. Recently discovered ship's logs indicate that the Weiss family moved to Appleton when Houdini was a toddler. The family came to America because of a job opportunity for Houdini's father, Rabbi Mayer Samuel Weiss, who became Appleton's first rabbi. While Houdini wasn't born in Appleton, he fondly referred to it as his hometown.

Individual trees may live 300-400 years if they reach the canopy layer. Flowering begins in late April or early May in the Green Bay area. It is well known as the source of sap to make maple syrup. Side note, it will take 40 gallons of sap from the tree to make one gallon of syrup. The average sugar maple tree produces about 10 to 20 gallons of sap — so you'd have to tap several trees to make just one gallon!

Booyah can require up to two days and multiple cooks to prepare; it is cooked in specially designed “booyah kettles” and usually meant to serve hundreds or even thousands of people. This culinary tradition is prevalent in areas of Wisconsin along the coastal Upper Great Lakes, with large Scandinavian populations.

Many credit Scandinavian immigrants for bringing the fish boil to Door County. Fish boils were originally used to feed large crowds of lumberjacks and fishermen. It was a quick economic way to feed large groups of people. It later became an attraction at restaurants. The fish is cut into small chunks and cooked in boiling water with red potatoes. Some boilers add onions as well. Salt is the only seasoning used. It raises the specific gravity of the water. Up to one pound of salt per two gallons of water is used. The fish and potatoes are prepared in a cast-iron kettle. When the water comes to a boil, the potatoes, kept in a wire basket, are lowered in.
The fish are then placed in another wire basket and lowered in. After 9–10 minutes, when the fish are cooked, the oils rise to the top of the pot. The boiler then tosses a small amount of kerosene on the fire and the increase in flames causes a boilover. The fish oils spill over the side of the pot and the fish is done. The fish chunks remain whole and firm. Chefs usually drip melted butter over the fish before serving. Fish boils do not always involve a flare-up with kerosene or fuel oil. This practice originated in Door County to entertain tourists

Jump Around was first played in 1998 against Purdue. Badgers were playing against Drew Brees (quarterback for Saints). It was marketing intern (also an inured tight end for the Badgers) job to come up with new songs that would get fan and team excited. Everyone went nuts and they made it a tradition after the first day of it being played. So many people were jumping they asked them to not do it again (they were worried that the stadium would damage). They brought it back because the students were so upset.
