Positive - Made Cuba a sovereign state (no colonial masters). Successfully produced social reforms (healthcare and education). Achieved Peace (relative) for 6 decades.

Negative - Did not become a free socialist utopia. Castro became a dictator (demanded loyalty, limited free speech and harassed/imprisoned those who questioned him. The isolationist policies left Cuba lagging behind others.

It failed due to a number of reasons:

- Belgian resistance was greater than expected

- The British Expeditionary Force arrived to defend Paris more rapidly than expected

- The German army was underfed, exhausted and already delayed

- 100,000 men had to be transferred to the Eastern Front to fight against Russia (a two front war)

1. Germany was impacted greter than Britain in regards to the fodd shortages, largely due to the British naval Blockade.

2. Coffee was made out of Barley, Rye, Chicory and figs, while bread was called K-Bread or Kreigsbrot, made out of potatoes, turnips or rye, with it being filled with sawdust and chalk towards the end of the war. 

3. While Germany initially had enough food to last until the next harvest, citizens were not allowed to waste food.

Censorship used to enforce the limitation of information which may be captured by the enemy or may sway the view of the war at the home front. 

Censorship occurred in a range of formats, such as intercepting mail, the banning of diaries for soldiers.

The British Naval Blockade - deprived food and raw materials from Germany

Improved Allied Tactics - the knowledge of artillery, tanks and aircraft were used in well-coordinated attacks.

Fire-power - British factories were delivering large quantities of tanks, machine guns, lewis guns, trench mortars and shells, as well as artillery.

Manpower - Both sides were running out of men, however the arrival of the US helped boost the Allies numbers, which the Germans could not match.

What was the difference between early German and British Propaganda and what effect did their have on their respective citizens.

British propaganda was organised the the War Propaganda Bureau and enabled their citizens to be influenced by nationalism and patriotism to volunteery for the war.

Germany on the other hand, did not have their propaganda organised and thus led to declines in public confidence about the war, as freedom of speech and the ability to publish without retribution from the government was still allowed.
