How to improve working memory

  • Repetition: Repeat actions or movements with words or phrases to help you remember them. 
  • Chunking: Group information into smaller components to make it easier to remember. For example, you can chunk a phone number into three groups of numbers. 
  • Routines: Create routines to help you remember things, such as where to put your keys when you get home. 
  • Focus: Focus on one task at a time, and ignore other tasks until you're done. 

    Use checklists: Create checklists for tasks with multiple steps.

  • Make connections: Use mnemonics to help you form associations between different details.
