What is a noun?
Finding details and evidence in books, magazines, newspapers, and reputable online sources.
What is research?
Starts with a topic sentence, includes a few sentences with details, and ends with a closing sentence.
What is a paragraph?
This is where you create a rough copy of your writing.
What is drafting?
When we write these, we show what is happening and where, getting readers into the world of the story.

These words describe nouns.
What are adjectives?
A short piece of writing on a particular subject.
What is an essay?
This is where you want to capture the reader’s attention and tell the reader what you will be writing about.
What is an introduction?
This is where you brainstorm ideas and organize your topic.
What is pre-writing?
I added more to the heart of my story, including not only actions and dialogue but also thoughts and feelings.
What is elaboration?
Words that show an action, occurrence, or state of being.
What are verbs?
Including details that support facts, ideas, opinions, or topics.

A type of nonfiction writing that teaches information and describes facts about something.

This is where you describe and explain. This is the bulk of the writing and is composed of facts and supporting details.

This is where you improve your writing.
What is revising?
I included precise and sometimes sensory details and used figurative language (simile, metaphor, and personification) to bring my story to life.

What are adverbs?
A way to organize your writing to make it easy for the reader to follow along.
What is structure?
This is where you close your writing. You can give a brief summary, make suggestions, and wrap up your writing in a way that highlights your main points.

This is when you create a clean and final copy.
What is publishing?
I showed how much time went by with words and phrases that mark time such as just then and suddenly (to show when things happened quickly) or after a while and a little later (to show when a little time passed).
