Similar to the bonus question:

A middle school has the fifth and sixth grades. There are 30 fifth grade boys and 70 fifth grade girls.

There are 4 fewer sixth grade boys than fifth grade boys, and there are 8 more sixth grade girls than sixth grade boys.

What is the ratio of boys to girls in the middle school?

56: 104

There are 4 fewer sixth grade boys than 5th grade boys. So that means there are 26 6th grade boys. 30+26= 56 boys total.

There are 8 more sixth grade girls than 6th grade boys. Since there are 26 sixth grade boys, that means there are 34 girls in the sixth grade. Add that to the 70 girls in 5th grade, and that means there are 104 girls in the school.

Since boys comes first in the question, we write the number of boys first. So the answer is 56:104

A punch bowl contains 3 cups of sprite, 4 cups of cranberry juice, and 2 cups of apple juice. Choose ALL that are true.

A. The ratio of cups of sprite to the entire punch bowl is 3:9. (When it says entire punch bowl it means total cups in the punch bowl. Remember that for the quiz!)

B. The ratio of apple juice to cranberry juice is 4:2

C. The ratio of juices to sprite is 6/3

D. The ratio of sprite to apple juice is 3 to 2

A, C, and D are true.

A is true. There are 3 cups of sprite and 9 total cups (3+4+=9) in the punch bowl.

B is NOT true. The ratio is 2:4, because there are 2 cups of apple juice and 4 cups of cranberry juice.

C is true juices means apple juice and cranberry juice together. 4+2=6, so there are 6 cups of juices. We know there are 3 cups of sprite, so 6:3 is our answer.

D is true. There are 3 cups of sprite and 2 cups of apple juice.
