Off-Site Meetings/Outings/Graduation: While attending outside meetings or activities it is important to be mindful that you represent SOME. Clients must stay and sit together as a group and be polite and respectful of your surroundings. We encourage you to participate, but if you share, keep it brief and to the point. Remember that at this stage in your recovery, you will benefit greatly from listening to others. It is recommended that you do not share for your first 30 days in treatment. In addition to the Cardinal Rules listed in the WV Client Handbook, the following rules apply when off-site:

1. Clients are not allowed to leave off-site meetings at any time; therefore clients must use the restroom before or after the meeting/activity. In the case of an emergency you must have permission from program staff before exiting and return as quickly as possible.
2. Clients are not allowed to have coffee, drinks, candy, or snacks unless permission is granted from staff.
3. Clients are not allowed to receive personal items, books, cigarettes, money, clothing, etc. from anyone.
4. Clients are not allowed to bring backpacks or purses to outside meetings or other functions.
5. Depending on the off-site activity, you may be assigned a buddy. If a buddy is assigned, you must remain with your buddy at all times.

Transportation to Off-Site Appointments: Appointments for doctor/dental visits will be made at the discretion of management and SOME medical staff. When you depart the WV campus for medical or dental appointments, please remember that you are still a West Virginia client and need to comply with trip rules.

1. While being transported remain in the van at all times with the staff driver. 2. Follow the directives and instructions of the driver at all times. 3. Do not attempt to call or make contact with significant others, friends, or family members. 4. Go directly to and from the scheduled appointment; do not make any detours. After contacting staff, wait patiently at the appointment location until transportation arrives. 5. Do not make any purchases while off-site. 6. Do not take or receive items from anyone. All prescriptions must be turned in to the driver to be submitted and filled by medical personnel.
7. If transported to DC, do not visit the dining and/or clothing rooms at main SOME, regardless of any permission granted by staff at main SOME.
