D-Day
D-Day otherwise known as “Designated Day” was when 156,000 soldiers crossed the English Channel in an attempt to surprise the Axis powers on Normandy beach in France. This attempt was a success and after D-Day soldiers were on a march to free Paris.

Japanese Americans were forced out of their homes because of the war between Japan, and America. Many were forced to be imprisoned. About 115,000 Japanese Americans were imprisoned throughout the war.

A political system that believed that people who worked inside of the government were more important than the citizens of the country.

A surprise attack from America caused the sinking of 4 aircraft carriers and destroyed Japan's army.

To oversee or be in charge of factories changing into war production factories.
Battle of the Coral Sea
A battle with a different strategy and causing the opposing side to not set off a single shot from the ships but instead use planes to their advances. In the end, there was not a clear winner but America did cause Japan to no longer advance.

Discrimination caused many white Americans to attack Mexican Americans.
Battle of Stalingrad
Known as one of the turning points in the war the Battle of Stalingrad caused 1,800,000 soldiers to die. The Soviet victory changed the outcome of the war.
Battle of Leyte Gulf
Known as the biggest naval battle in History the battle of Leyte destroyed the Japanese navy causing Japan to not be powerful. After this event, America attempted to stop supplies coming in from other Axis powers so Japan would not be able to gain back strength.

Battle of El Alamein
In the summer of 1942 Italian troops attempted to take control of Northern Africa. British troops stopped the attack with the help of American troops. This battle gave Allied troops full control of Northern Africa.
Island hopping
A war plan that America came up with caused them to not attempt to take all Japanese islands but just the important ones.
Chester Nimitz
Nimitz led an American fleet to stop the Japanese from advancing into the southern Pacific.
