D-Day

D-Day otherwise known as “Designated Day” was when 156,000 soldiers crossed the English Channel in an attempt to surprise the Axis powers on Normandy beach in France. This attempt was a success and after D-Day soldiers were on a march to free Paris.

A battle with a different strategy and causing the opposing side to not set off a single shot from the ships but instead use planes to their advances. In the end, there was not a clear winner but America did cause Japan to no longer advance.

Battle of Leyte Gulf

Known as the biggest naval battle in History the battle of Leyte destroyed the Japanese navy causing Japan to not be powerful. After this event, America attempted to stop supplies coming in from other Axis powers so Japan would not be able to gain back strength.

In the summer of 1942 Italian troops attempted to take control of Northern Africa. British troops stopped the attack with the help of American troops. This battle gave Allied troops full control of Northern Africa.
