Who is Hagrid?

He is the Keeper of the Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts. He rescues Harry from the Dursleys and tells him that he is a wizard and accepted into Hogwarts.

What house is Harry in? Why did he not want to be in Slytherin?

He is placed into Gryffindor. Harry doesn’t want to be in Slytherin because he hears that many dark witches and wizards, including Voldemort, were in that house. He also has a bad first impression of Slytherin after meeting Draco Malfoy, who is rude and unfriendly.

What is the Remembrall and why is it important?

A Remembrall is a small glass ball that turns red when the person holding it has forgotten something. Neville’s grandmother sends him one because he often forgets things. Draco Malfoy steals it from Neville.

Who is Professor Snape AND how does he treat Harry?

He is the potions teacher at Hogwarts and head of the Slytherin House. He treats Harry in a rude, unfair way and seems to dislike him.

Why does Harry get in trouble during the first flying lesson? What happens instead of a punishment?

Draco throws Neville's Remembrall and it flies into the air while their professor leaves to take care of Neville. She gave them instructions to not fly while she is gone. Harry does not listen and flies his broom to get Neville's Remembrall. When he is caught by Professor McGonagall, she makes him the new Seeker for the Gryffindor Quidditch team.
