Explain what happened on the 5th of November 1881

 John Bryce and 1600 soldiers arrived in the morning. The people of Parihaka sang waiata, offered the British food and simply sat down. The British gave the people a warning that they had one hour to leave. The people continued to sit peacefully. After the hour was up, the soldiers attacked. They looted and destroyed the village, abused the women and arrested the men. They left the women and children without food or homes.
