Dividers
The part of the spread that contains the page number, topic, and accompanying graphics
Folio
A few sentences identifying 5 W's & H
Caption
bendable part of the yearbook that protects the binding
Spine
The number of times and types of people that are featured. We strive for each person 3 times.
Coverage
the verbal & visual idea that ties the year's book together
Theme
Eliminating unwanted elements in a photo, either using the camera’s viewfinder before the image is shot or using photography software afterward
Crop
Individual photos of students in a yearbook
Portrait
The visual plan for where elements will go on a page.
Layout
A story within a story. Present different angles on same topic.
Content Module (Mod)
the area where the two pages of a spread meet & content can get lost
Gutter
To make changes or corrections to a spread. This will happen multiple times prior to submitting.
Editing
Most commonly references the main story or dominant text, but also refers to all text on a spread.
