They are worried about being judged, or laughed at or seen as vulnerable. This can be due to the stigma around dealing with our mental health.

Asking them what you can do to help them.

Try to bring their breathing back to normal or try to remove them from the situation that caused it, but ultimately, always start with trying to regulate their breathing.

When someone experiences a panic attack they have very little control over how their body responds and are unable to think clearly. In their mind, they are literally fighting for their life and cannot rationalize their behaviour.
