  •  help facilitate new participants in understanding the culture, work, and ways of YJPU

  • Be at the forefront in planning and executing our campaign work and actions.

  • Respecting people's pronouns, identity and experiences 

  • Do not come to the program under the influence 

  • Safe Space: Any threats to other people’s safety is taken very seriously and will result in a step three circle aimed at restoring safety and trust for the person impacted.

What was our townhall about? 

purpose: 

- to gather community input around safety alternatives, and about our campaign 

- to gather information on where people think money should go

to educate community around the defund the police and the work thats happening here at yjpu

Boston residents will vote on the 15 community generated PB proposals. YJPU demands around youth jobs was one of the proposal

What is organizing? 

 a method of change that involves uniting with people who are most impacted by an issue to take direct action against power structures. 


Simply put, community organizing means to unite to fight!

What power does our city council have? 

Mayor:

  • Develop an annual budget proposal 

  • Execute laws/ordinances passed by the city council

  • Appoint and supervise department heads/officials 

  • Oversee the administration functions of the city 

  • Has authority to veto acts of the council 

  • Oversee police officers, firefighters 

  • Create schedules for garbage pick up, clearings for snow days

What does abolition mean? 

  • systems and structures need to be destroyed and invites us to create new networks and communities of freedom

What is the work that we are doing at unnamed? Why?

In unnamed we are checking in with community members (through our survey) on issues that we identified that are important and seeing which one's feel equally important to members. This will give us insight on how we want to as unnamed address this issue
