Shoot for the Moon
Take me to the beach
You can't define me
Do you have the force?
100

What causes the influence of gravity to increase?

The mass of an object.

100

You throw a beach ball into the air, the force that pulls the beach ball back down to the ground is called ________.

Gravitational force.

100

A force is a _____ & ______ that one object exerts on another.

Push and pull

100

Fight the force! Hold a plank for 1 minute, you get points dependent on the number of team mates who hold the plank!

time for some maths...

Explain the difference between a persons mass and weight on Earth, compared to their mass and weight on the Moon.

A persons mass will stay the same on Earth and the Moon, as mass is measure of the total number of particles in an object.

A person will weigh more on Earth than they will on the Moon as there is a stronger gravitational force on Earth compared to the Moon.

200

You run down the sand and into the water, why does your pace slow down the deeper you get into the water?

The force of water resistance becomes greater the deeper you go into the water.

200

Define non-contact and contact forces.

Non-contact forces affect objects without direct contact.

Contact forces affect objects when they are directly touching.

200

Do 20 star jumps - then write down the force you can feel on your arms as they move up and down.

Air resistance.

300

All objects on Earth experience the same gravitational force pulling them towards Earths centre. Why will a bowling ball and a feather fall at different speeds?

Air resistance has more influence on the feather as it has a smaller mass that the bowling ball.

Two dogs are playing tug of war at the beach, one dog is larger and is winning, pulling the other dog down the beach. List the type of force described, and whether it is balanced or unbalances.

Tension force, unbalanced.

300

What are the 3 types of non-contact force.

Magnetic force, electrostatic force, gravitational force.

300

Can anyone do 30 push ups? Any team where at least 1 member does 30, consecutive push ups wins points!

So strong!

400

Draw a diagram outlining the forces acting on a rocket as it flies into space!

Gravitational force, upthrust force, air resistance, lift force.

My friend and I are fishing at the beach. We both snag a fish at the same time. My fishing line wont wind in, no matter how hard I try, whereas my friend is easily pulling their catch in. Use this example to describe balanced and unbalanced forces.

Balanced forces occur when all forces acting on the object cancel it out - the force of me winding the fishing rod in and the fish swimming away were equal - resulting in no movement.

Unbalanced forces occur when there is a difference between the amount of forces applied on the object - the force of my friend winding the fishing rod in was stronger that the force of the fish swimming away - resulting in movement.

400

Forces can:_______, ________, ________, ________.

Accelerate, decelerate, change shape, change direction.

400

Using contact force to make percussion sounds, create a mini rhythm your group can play together. All group members must play in time to get the points.

DJ, drop me a beat.

500

Draw a picture of outer space - coolest picture wins!

Tabitha's vote goes to...

500

Draw a picture of you and your friends hanging out at the beach, include 5 examples of forces at work.

(each group explains their drawing)

500

Define normal force and draw 2 diagrams to further explain your definition.

The normal force is the force that a surface applies to objects to support them.
They are always acting at right angles to the surface.

500

Draw a picture of how force impacts you in everyday life - best picture wins!

good vibes everyone!
