In what order should guest gear be set on the bay & what is the correct way to gear up a guest?

On the hook, the order should be secondaries, trolley/handlebars, then primary. On the guest, the order is primary, trolley (attached to their left side) and lastly, secondaries. (attached to their right side.) *Bonus points if Gate-Trolley-Handlebars is mentioned.

What do you look for when inspecting trollies or handle bars?

Trolley: - No rust, dents or cracks in metal

- All bolts should be tight on outside 

- Wheels should not come to a sudden stop, nor continue to roll without stopping

Handle bars:

- No holes or tears on orange handler bar pad & they should fit snug on the bars, not sliding off

What items should be taken out to do inspection? Where are the items placed on the course?

- 1 VC radio, 2 zip radios, 5 trolley transfer bags & the zip phone.

- Trolley transfer bags are placed in the cooler at the bottom of all ziplines, and the phone is stored in a green box at the bottom of 2.

Explain the correct order of steps when performing a retrieval on any zipline, besides #4.

1. Radio the sending partner guide and say, "Stop for retrieval" twice. After hearing "Stopping for retrieval", secure the brake, hook up trolley & prusik, then roll out slowly to meet guest. 

2. Once the guest is in reach, attach guide's free secondary carabiner to a metal ring on the guests side and then pull them back to platform-- keep the guest in a tight embrace with legs to make pulling both people easier. 

3.Once at the bottom, the guest & guide must be properly secured before the gear is taken off the line.

When racing a guest, what line does the guest zip down & what is the radio command? 

The guest must zip down line #5, while the guide must zip down line #6. The command is "Zipping Guest Line 5, Guide Line 6 [radio color]"

What do you look for when inspecting guest & guide secondaries?

- Critical stitching (behind both buckles & near loop)

- Any holes, tears or fraying in the middle or edges in green material 

- All metal & buckles must be functioning and have no rust, dents or cracks

- Carabiners must open/close 3 times in a row without failing

Explain the correct order of steps when performing a retrieval on zip #4.

1. Hit the emergency retrieval siren, for 3 seconds.

2. Radio the sending partner guide and say, "Stop for retrieval" twice. After hearing "Stopping for retrieval", hook up trolley & prusik, attach the rescue rope to their side & roll out slowly to meet their guest. 

3.Once the guest is in reach, attach the rescue rope on the guests side metal ring. Explain to the guest they will be left there a moment while the guide pulls themself back to the platform. 

4. When the tour guide is secure & standing on the platform, they will use the rope to pull the guest back to the platform. 

5. The guest must be properly secured before gear is taken off the line.

What are the 4 rules for the flat suspension bridge?

  1.  2 people at a time 

  2. Do not bounce, run or hold on to secondaries.

When do you lengthen guests secondaries? When do you shorten them?

Guests secondaries should be lengthened right before they ride down cross canyon.

They are shortened at the top of 5 & 6.

What do you look for when inspecting guest & guide primaries?

Where is the AED located & why is it placed there? How do you inspect it?

The AED is stored in the cooler at the bottom of two because it is the most central area on the zip course.

Tour guides must verify the green light flashes on the outside of the AED at least 2 times before placing the trolley transfer bag on top.

Explain the correct order of steps when performing a Trolley Transfer.

*Assume emergency services will be needed*

 1. Use VC radio & say "VC, I have a CODE WHITE at (location), and I am performing trolley transfer." twice.

2. Change zip radio to emergency channel & say "Stop for Trolley Transfer" twice. After hearing "Stopping for Trolley Transfer", take Trolley Transfer rescue kit out of both bags, secure both ends onto guide harness, hook up trolley & prusik then roll out slowly to meet the guest. 

3.Once the guest is in reach, use free guide secondary to clip into guests side ring.

4. Attach the bottom of the rescue kit into guests middle ring, then take the top part of the rescue kit & set up new trolley with guest's free secondary.

5. Pull down on the rope & knot to move guests weight off old gear & onto the rescue kit. 

6. Once the old trolley is able to be taken off, the remaining secondary returns back to it's pair (on the rescue trolley) & the guests old trolley/primary are clipped into the rescue kit's top carabiner, as back up.

7. Pull them back to platform -- keep the guest in a tight embrace with legs to make pulling both people easier. 

8. Once at the bottom, the guest & guide must be properly secured before the gear is taken off the line where a manger & emergency services will be waiting.

What are the 4 rules for the incline bridge?

1. 2 people at a time 

2. Hold onto both sides of the bridge at all times

3. Don’t put head between secondaries, keep both to one side

4. Watch out for the missing first step

What is the maximum amount of people that can be clipped onto a belay line at a time? What is the maximum amount of people allowed to rodeo from 5 & 6?

 - 10 people per belay line.

- 20 people allowed to rodeo (including guides)

What do you look for when inspecting a gri-gri & gri-gri rope?

Gri-gri: - No rust, dent or cracks on the outside metal or surrounding hardware

- Inside should be clear of debris and the corner piece that holds the rope in place should not be sharp

- Lever should spring back into place after 3 tries

Gri-gri rope:

- No frays, unraveling or cuts in the rope

- Should pass the bend test

- Critical stitching in handles or tight/secure knots

Where the zipline is anchored to the plate, what 2 different pieces of hardware are being inspected & what indicates that they pass? How do you inspect a zipkea?

- The primary & secondary shackles should be secured with a zip-tie & the fist grips will be marked with yellow/orange torque striping. (Bonus if they mention fist grips are only located on one side of the line).

- Use 'Pull method" on zipkea to simulate engaging the brake & make sure claws open & spring back into original position.

Explain the correct order of steps when hooking up & using the Trublue.

*Emergency services will be needed*

 1. Use VC radio & say "VC, I have a CODE WHITE at the bottom of 4, and I am using the Trublue." twice.

2. Change zip radio to emergency channel & say "Stop for Trublue" twice. After hearing "Stopping for Trublue", refer to the correct cooler.

3. Once guide secondaries have been shortened & the Trublue ropes have been unclipped from the pole, pull down on the black wire to release the red rope with the loop, down to the cooler.

4. The carabiner attached to the long handle of the Trublue will clip into the rope with the loop.

5. Carefully pull down on other red rope with the knot & gently guide Trublue out of the cooler until it is fixed in the air.

6. Using the steps, clip remaining 2 carabiners into the correct metal thimbles, each carabiner facing a different direction.

7. Back on the platform, pull first on the black wire, then the red rope with a knot to release the weight of the Trublue off the pulley system onto the rigging.

8. Now that it is ready to use & after confirming with ground support at the bottom, bring guest near the steps & shorten secondaries.

9. Have guest stand on the top step, face the guide & clip the carabiner with Trublue lanyard onto guests center ring, in between primary & secondaries. Then yell, "On rescue!". Ground support will respond, yelling back "Rescue on!"

10. Clip the guests secondaries onto their harness, now connected to only the Trublue. Then yell, "Lowering!". Ground support will respond, "Lower on!", & the guide must gently try to persuade, coach or push the guest off the steps.

11. After the guest has been assisted at the bottom, where a manager & emergency services will also be waiting, Ground support will unclip the carabiner from the guest, let it automatically reset & yell "Off rescue!". The guide at the top will respond, "Rescue off!" to complete the rescue.

3 flashes for brake set, line clear. 

1 flash for zipping. 

2 flashes for zip on.
