Tommy is very frustrated when his video game kept freezing and feels himself starting to be in the yellow zone.  What could Tommy do to go back to the green zone?

Problem Solving!

Instead of getting angry, Tommy could think of a list of things to try to make his video game work again like restarting the system or asking an adult for help.

Brianna's mom takes her to a baby shower where she doesn't know anybody.  Everybody keeps asking her questions about her school and what she likes to do.  Brianna is uncomfortable, nervous, and wants to hide behind her mom.  Brianna then starts yelling and crying at her mom that she wants to leave.  What could help her get back to the yellow and green zones?

Eating Dinner with my family

Marcus is playing his favorite video game after school.  His father comes in the room and tells him to get off the video game and come to dinner.  Marcus is almost to the end and is winning and tells his dad "No not now!" in a rude tone.  Marcus' dad then unplugs his game system and Marcus stomps and yells off to his room where he spends the rest of the evening angry.  Would could Marcus have done differently to stay out of the red zone and avoid getting in trouble?

Marcus could have politely said, "Hey dad?  Could i have a few more minutes to finish this game and then come eat dinner, please?"

Marcus could have paused his game, gone to eaten his dinner, and then resumed playing another day.

Marcus could have thought about the next day when he could play again, thought about respecting rules to keep from getting in trouble, and made the decision to turn off the game and play again the next day.
