The first 2 steps of ICARE help establish a warm relationship with patients.
Introduction – Use a greeting. Provide your name, title and department
Connect – make eye contact and have an approchable smile. Be aware of guest's body language and seriousness in tone of voice. Empathize and apologize. Use appropriate tone and body language.
These everyday items must stay outside of an MRI scanning room due to the MRI's strong magnet.
Electronic devies – cell phones, smart watches, tablets, etc.
Household tools – scissors, screwdrives, nail clippers, etc.
Metal objects – care keys, coin change, etc.
ALWAYS READ THE SIGNS!
These are found at buildings 5, 25, 80, and 90. This new system (similar to TSA) enhances safety by screening for weapons.
All persons entering buildings 5, 25, 80 & 90 will walk through a non-invasive screening system that scans for weapons
If no weapons are detected, a person will be able to walk through unimpeded
Secondary screens may be needed if detection of prohibited item
2 Sheriff’s cadets will be stationed at buildings 5, 25, 80 & 90 entrances

Ask – Ask or offer to assist with resolving the concern. Ask the patient what their expectations are for a solution and/or offer options for a solution.
Respond – clarify or verify agreement on next steps.

Often overlooked, this final step of ICARE, leaves a lasting impression on ZSFG on patients.
Exit – Exit courteously by saying thank you, restating your name, and asking if there is any further assistance which can be offered.

BE FAST
Balance: sudden loss of balance, learning or staggering
Eyes: sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes or double vision
Face: facial droop or weakness or numbness on one side
Arm or leg: weakness or lack of coordination in the arm or leg
Speech difficulty: difficulty speaking or understanding
Terrible headache: sudden onset of head pain/ time to call 911
