What is g on Earth?
a) what the true gravity units are
b) what you will use by Cambridge
a) g = 9.81 N/Kg

A toy car travels down a hill. Its distance is 15 metres and the time it took was 41 seconds.
What is its velocity?
v=s/t (velocity = distance / time)
s = 15 m. ; t = 41 sec.
v=15m/41s
v=0.37 m/s
Define:
Kinetic Energy
Potential Energy
Kinetic energy is using energy to make an object move.
Potential energy is any kind of energy that is stored which could be gravitational, chemical or nuclear with are some examples
What happens to the movement of liquids as it goes to a gas?
It speeds up; Gains K.E.
Ying Hai International has one doctor. What's he/her name?
Doctor John Harrison
If g on Planet A is 12.1 N/Kg and the mass of a watermelon is 981 g, what is it's weight?
g = W/m
W = g x m
12.1 N/Kg x 0.981 Kg = 11.87 N
A spacecraft moves at a speed of 17,000 m/s. How far will it travel in one year?
Give your answer in km.
distance = speed x time
1 year = 365 days = (365 x 24hours x 60 min. x 60 sec) =31,536,000s
d = 17,000 m/s x 31,536,000s
d=5.36x10^11m/1000(km)
d= 536,112,000 km or 5.36 x 10^8
What is the "principle of conservation of energy"
Energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be stored or transferred.
Define what is inferred thermal radiation and give an example of it.
It is thermal energy transfer by using electromagnetic waves that doesn't need a medium to travel.
An example of it is heat leaving your body or the sun's radiation
What is the name of this little monster?
Stitch
Create a speed-time graph of:
0s = 0m/s
30s = 7 m/s
40 s = 7 m/s
50 s = 7 m/s
60s = 0ms
Calculate its total distance travelled.
create an accurate graph
area of triangle + area of rectangle = distance travelled.
Distance travelled = 280m
A tank for holding water is a cuboid with sides of (l)2.4 m, (w)2.1 m and (h)1.5 m.
The pressure at the bottom of the tank is 12 kPa.
Calculate the weight of the water.
a) pressure=force/area
b) Area = 2.4 × 1.5 = 3.6m3
force = pressure × area
F = 12,000Pa × 3.6m3
F = 43,200 N
A coal fire power station creates 2500 MW of electricity while wind turbine produces 2.0 MW or electricity.
a) State one advantage and one disadvantage of using wind power instead of coal.
b) Coal power makes up 1/3 of the world's energy. Explain why wind turbines have not replaced them.
b) Coal is much cheaper fuel than wind turbines and the energy output of coal is much higher than wind energy, so it is difficult for poor counties to replace them.
Explain how metallic strips are used in fire alarms
As the temperature heats up, one of the metals on the strips will expand causes the circuit to become close, starting the alarm to warn others of a fire.
What is this flag of during WWI

A ball on Earth has W = 112N. On Planet A, its W = 82N.
Find out what the gravity on Planet A is?
Earth:
W = 112 N; g = 9.81 N/Kg
g = W/m ; m = W/g
m = 112N / 9.81 N/Kg
m =11.4 Kg
Planet A:
W = 82N & m = 11.4 Kg
g = W/M --> 82N/11.4Kg
g = 7.19 N/Kg
The student investigates the extension of the spring using six different weights.
The results are shown in the table below.
Weight (N)Extension (mm)
0.20N 4.0mm
0.40N 8.0mm
0.60N 12.0mm
0.80N 16.0mm
1.00N 20.0mm
b) Draw a graph for the readings, and comment on the students conclusion.
The student writes this conclusion:
'The extension of the spring is directly proportional to the weight stretching the spring.'
comment: The graph line is straight and passes through the origin, so the student is correct.
You are a scientist that are issued to create a new power plant in Taipei's Beitou. The city has issued a stop of their coal power and wants to stop nuclear power.
State which power you would use there and why?
Answer may vary.
I would use geothermal. There are a lot of natural hot springs there, so there is a lot of potential for geothermal power plant. This is a good renewable energy that is constant and will produce electricity, hot water for the city, and have no green house gasses.
Describe how a heater at the bottom of the tank heats all the water in the tank.
Convection current.
Heat rises, and cold falls down. The heating element heats the cold water at the bottom, rising and repeating the process until the water is a constant temperature.
