What is the Lizard Brain?
When you react (say or do something) without thinking of the good and bad consequences
How can I tell by looking at someone what they are possibly thinking or feeling?
I look at their Body Clues or Red Flags on their faces and bodies
What Zone do we want to be in and what are some feelings we have in that Zone
Green! Happy, confidnet, calm, excited, relaxed, optimisitc
What does S.T.E.P. stand form?
Say the problem (without blame)
Think of solutions
Explore outcomes and consequences to those solutions
Pick the best solution

Before I say or do somethings, I ask myself, "Is this a good choice or a bad choice." "What will happen if I do it." "What will the consequences be."
What is Compassion?
Empathy in Action! Noticing how someone is thinking and feeling and DOING something to make them feel better
What is the Zone has the highest number of elevated Body Clues or Red Flags? What do we do to calm ourselves in that Zone
Red - Take a break, belly breathe
Why is it important to be kind to people?
They will likely be kind back! Kindness creates more kindness (but unkindness can create more unkindness)
Kindness shows people that you care about them and lets them know you are there form them
Is it okay to use my Lizard Brain at times? Why?
Yes, it is okay to use your Lizard Brain! If you are in danger, if you need to protect yourself...if your Amygdala tells you to "fight, flight, or freeze." If I'm walking across the street and a bus is coming, or if I touch a hot object, I need to quickly react without thinking
I can only show Compassion when someone is sad, mad, frustrated, aggry, hurt...if they are not feeling well? True or False?
False! I can show compassion when someone has done something really nice or if they have done something they are proud of, like winning an award (IB Student of the Week)
What Zone do we experience the most Body Clues that are lower in intensity? What are some of those feelings that belong in the Zone
Blue - sad, tired, depressed, exhausted, hurt
What are different ways you can show kindness?
Asking someone to join you
Asking someone if they are okay
Asking someone if they need help
Ask if they want some company
What happens inside my brain the more I use my Wizard Brain?
Why is it important to show Empathy and Compassion towards others?
It makes you and everyone around you feel better, and Empathy and Compassion will likely increase the number of friends you have!

If everyone is kind to everone else, what Zone will they be in?
GREEN!!!! The more kind acts you do for them, the more kind acts you receive, the happier everyone is, the stronger the community becomes, you have more friends, people feel good, you feel good, there are fewer problmes, it makes things more enjoyable, everyone wants to come to school...the list goes on and on (but unkindness makes it harder for all of these things to happen)
