What is justification?
Justification is God forgiving all my sins and declaring me to be righteous.
What is sanctification?
Sanctification is God making me holy in heart and behavior.
What are the two parts of sanctification?
Dying to sin and living to righteousness.
What does it mean to repent?
To repent is to be sorry for sin and to hate and forsake it because it displeases God.
Who will be saved?
Whoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ.
What is faith in Christ?
Faith in Christ is trusting in Him alone for salvation.
How were people saved before the coming of Christ?
People were saved by believing in a Savior to come.
What does pre-existent mean?
It means that Jesus has always been alive. There was never a time when He was not alive.
If your parents are Christians, does that automatically make you a child of God?
No. Children of God are not born by human desire or ability but are born of God.
In what city was David born?
Bethlehem
(Which is why Jesus was also born there.)What did John tell the Pharisees and Sadducees who approached him while he was baptizing?
”You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?”
Why does Jesus tell John to baptize Him?
Jesus is perfectly keeping the law of God in our place.

Is Jesus like God, or is Jesus God?
Jesus is God. He has the exact same nature as the Father. We know He is God because He is eternal, Creator, and self-existent (uncreated).

Why was Jesus’ birth announced to shepherds?
To show that He came to save even the lowly, to show that He would be the chief shepherd, and to show that He would be the sacrificial lamb.

She “treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart” (Luke 2:19). She thought deeply about what she heard, even though she didn’t understand it all.
What did John the Baptizer wear and eat, and why?
He wore camel’s hair and a leather belt. He ate locusts and honey. This showed he was the promised Elijah.
Explain the Active Obedience of Christ.
Christ perfectly kept the law of God in the place of everyone who would repent and believe the gospel. Whoever repents and believes is credited with having kept the law.
The Passive Obedience of Christ is His having suffered the punishment due for our sins.
The second temptation: What does Satan offer Jesus and in exchange for what?
Satan offers Jesus dominion over the world’s kingdoms and its glory in exchange for worshipping before him.

What did John say about Jesus’ sandals, and why?
John said he wasn’t worthy to tie Jesus’ sandals (Matthew 3:11). Since that was a job for the lowest slave, that shows how great Jesus is.
Explain the concept of the Messiah.
Messiah comes from the Hebrew word machiach and means “anointed one” or “chosen one.”
The Messiah was the Savior and King whom God promised to Israel. Just as prophets, priests, and kings were anointed, the Anointed One would be prophet, priest, and king.
The Greek equivalent word is Christos. The name Jesus Christ means “Jesus the Messiah.”
The third temptation: Satan tells Jesus to do this.
Satan tells Jesus to throw himself off the pinnacle of the temple so that He could be seen being rescued by angels.
Both the crowd and the demon (in the demon-possessed man) recognized this aspect of Jesus and His teaching which differentiated him from the other teachers of His day.
