An academic support program that helps students prepare for college and other post-secondary opportunities.
What is AVID?
Also known as a trade school or vocational school, this is a post-secondary school that prepares students for a specific career.
What is a Technical College?
This is a document that shows you've finished all the required courses to graduate high school.
What is a high school diploma?
This is what MyCAP stands for.
What is My Career & Academic Plan?
This is an official, comprehensive, and permanent record of a student’s academic performance, including all courses taken, grades earned, GPA, and credits.
What is a transcript?
A program that allows high school students to take college courses and earn credit for both high school and college
What is concurrent enrollment (CE)?
After high school this pathway has you join as an enlisted service member or attend a service academy or ROTC program.
What is the Military?
An undergraduate degree that takes about two years to complete. It's a higher qualification than a high school diploma, but lower than a bachelor's degree.
What is an associate's degree?
This is where you go to access your MyCAP lessons.
What is Naviance?
This number is an average that shows how well you’re doing in school based on your grades.
What is GPA (Grade Point Average)?
A program that offers college-level courses and exams to high school students by scoring well on a rigorous exam.
What is Advance Placement (AP)?
This pathway after high school prepares students to transfer to four-year colleges and universities, helps with career education and credentialing, or helps them receive an associate’s degree.
What is a Community College?
An undergraduate degree that is earned (in 4 years on average) after completing a course of study at a college or university.
What is a bachelor's degree?
These are the grades that MyCAP goes through.
What is 6th grade through 12 grade?
This is a measurement of academic achievement that represents the number of hours of instruction and is a unit toward your degree.
What is a credit?
This pathway teaches specific career skills to students through hands-on learning and provides industry-recognized certifications and internships.
What is Career and Technical Education (CTE)?
This pathway allows students to complete a 4-year degree, which is typically called a Bachelor’s degree. Bachelor’s degrees require a student to take general education courses (such as math, English, science, social studies) and specialized courses related to a chosen major.
What is a 4-Year College/University?
This is earned after completing career oriented course work that can lead to certification or a credential.
What is a Career Certificate?
Teachers, parents, counselors, school admin, trusted adults, siblings and friends are good resources and people to ask for support
Who can support you with your MyCAP?
To earn a credit in a high school course, a student must receive this minimum grade or higher.
What is a "D"?
A structured learning experience that combines school and workplace education utilizing partnership with business.
What is Work-Based Learning?
This pathway is a regulated, long-term, paid positions that train participants in a skilled trade. It often ends in a guaranteed job at the end of the program.
What is an Apprenticeship?
Often earned through technical schools, this credential may be shorter in duration than a degree, but it usually requires more general education and/or coursework than a certificate.
What is an Industry Credential?
This is the reason for why we are doing MyCAP.

Opened in 2019, this Cherry Creek campus offers hands‑on, industry‑aligned programs—from aerospace manufacturing to health and wellness—and lets high school students earn real workforce certifications while still enrolled in their home school.
