Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment (vs. the past or future). It often involves noticing your breathing, but not always.

You will always be working with other people and will need to communicate with them in order to reach larger goals.

Stress, uncertainty, conflict, and frustration will all come up at work at some point. Learning to manage your emotions means not letting those things get in the way of your goals.
How should you respond if someone else tries to engage you in an unprofessional conversation?
Ideas:
- Find an excuse to leave the conversation
- Push back gently ("I don't want to talk about that while we're at work")
- Ignore them
- If it's a consistent problem or especially inappropriate, speak with your supervisor

Do research online (including O*NET), watch YouTube videos, visit a place where people have that job, talk to people you know with that job

High school teacher, TNC staff, or former work/volunteer supervisor are the best!
If you need to have a serious conversation with your supervisor, what should you do in advance?
- Find a private place to have the conversation
- Ask them in advance to find a good time to talk uninterrupted

So many!
Cleaning, doing a word search, playing games, enjoying nature, listening to music, touching or smelling nice things, watch TV, read, exercise, make art or crafts, talk to someone you care about, etc.
How should you answer the phone at work?
"Hi, this is [YOUR NAME] from [COMPANY NAME], how can I help you?"

Do you need to have 100% of the skills listed on a job description in order to apply?
NO! Companies use job descriptions to describe the PERFECT candidate, but someone could not meet all the requirements and still be a good candidate.

1) Identify what type of job you are looking for
2) Look for open positions
3) Submit an application, resume, and maybe a cover letter
4) Interview for the position
5) Write a thank you email after the interview
6) Hopefully get the job!
When you request an accommodation, do you have to mention your disability?
You do have to mention that the accommodation is related to the disability, but you don't have to say what disability you have if you don't want to. However, they are allowed to require a doctor's note.
