A unit of measure created by people to keep track of the progress of life.
There many different ways to keep track- sundial, watch, days, weeks, months etc.
Nomads

Hunter gatherers were nomads until they started farming.
Religion
The belief and worship of a supreme being or beings/ belief in a higher power.
Archaeology
The recovery and study of ancient objects from the past
(artifacts, ruins, bones) -- physical evidence of history!! proof that these things we are learning about happened.
Agriculture
The science, art and business of farming --
Once people started farming, they could stay in one place.
What is a lunar calendar?
A calendar according to the moon.
The Jewish calendar is primarily lunar but keeps up with the sun. The Islamic calendar is lunar.
What is a hunter-gatherer? How do they provide themselves with food?
Hunter gatherers were nomads who lived before civilized society. They were constantly thinking about their next meal. They hunted animals and fish, and gathered wild grains, nuts and berries.

The taming or training of animals and plants to live amongst and benefit humans.
Wolves and wheat are examples of animals and plants that were domesticated. Animals are now dependent on humans and have different forms.

Calendar according to the sun.
American/Christian/Gregorian calendar is solar.
What was the role of women in starting to farm?
Women were the gatherers of the Hunter-Gatherers.
They were the ones who noticed that seeds that were watered and planted would grow into more food.
Government
A system of rules and the people who make and enforce them to help society run smoothly.

Benefits of Cooked Food and Befriending Animals?
Cooking predigested the food so more nutrients could be absorbed, leading to a smaller stomach and a bigger, stronger brain.
Animals could help people hunt and defended them.

All the years after the birth of Jesus. We are now in the Common Era. Jews say CE instead of AD.
What did man look for in his environment in order to be able to settle down?
Man looked for fertile soil, a water source, and lots of plants and animals to eat.

What are Artifacts?
Artifacts are the physical evidence of history in the form of fossils, bones, ruins, pottery etc. They are what archaeologists uncover and allow us to learn about the past.

Once they started farming, people had a surplus of food, so they could develop new skills.

Where did civilization first develop and why?
Civilization first developed in the Fertile Crescent in the Middle East. It had the most fertile soil in the region, multiple rivers, and lots of wild plants and animals.
