You and your peer are discussing how the weekend was for both of you.  Your peer is trying to engage in the conversation by telling you that she did some of the same things you did.  You interrupt her and say, "This is my story about my weekend and you need to be quiet".  Is this good conversation skills?

No.  A conversation takes two people and each person should have opportunities to speak.  Wanting to be listened to is understandable, but telling your peer that what they have to say isn't important is selfish, rude and inconsiderate.  Allowing others to participate in the conversation by sharing their experiences is important.

Your group has voted to go to Applebee's for lunch this Friday, but you saw that a new restaurant is opening that same day and want to try it.  You convince one peer to change their mind, but another peer still wants to go to Applebee's. Is this appropriate? Why, or why not?

Groups decide where to eat in advance so that everyone can budget accordingly and know exactly what is planned.  Changing the plan or routine can cause stress for some people.  If your group has decided to eat at a specific location, stick to the plan and suggest the new restaurant for the next time that there will be a lunch outing.
